I try to group with "group by sort" and "from" my emails. I have for example two adresses with the same name like "Zoom Video Communications <teamzoom@zoom.us>" and "Zoom Video Communications <webinars@zoom.us>". Now I get two groups with the same common name, see screenshot. Is there a way to name the group by the email adress....!?

Folks, I am recent migrant from Microsoft Outlook to Thunderbird and have been very impressed! So much so that I went all out and upgraded to latest 78 release across both my Windows 10 desktop and Linux (Ubuntu 20.04) laptop (yeah!), I also configured both "Provider for Google Calendar" and "TbSync" to ensure calendar sync across all my gmail and hotmail email accounts. For the most part it is all working fine and I can see all my events on both of my Thunderbird clients as well as on the web calendars. However since version 78 upgrade, I have noticed a peculiar problem - for all my invitations created either in Thunderbird or on Google Calendar in the web browser - the events are getting sync'd but any attendees that I invite - they get dropped off at some point of time (I can't be sure exactly at what point but at least in one scenario it happened after they accepted my invitation, and I indeed received the acceptance notification! But just before the meeting was supposed to start, my guest attendee called me to ask for the web conference link as the meeting disappeared from his calendar! And sure enough, he dropped off from my list of attendees!).

Any ideas on how I can fix this? It is rather worrying as I do have quite a few standing meetings with my different mail accounts and I just don't know what my calendar (or one of the two add-ins that I have enabled for calendar sync) is doing behind my back - potentially cancelling all these events?

I have a profile with several E-Mail accounts of which one disappeared and I don't know why. I diffed my current pref.js against the latest backup and found that (apart from minor changes) two lines are missing in the current version:

user_pref("mail.account.account6.identities", "id4"); user_pref("mail.account.account6.server", "server7");

Might this be the reason? And would it be a good idea to paste the lost lines into the current prefs.js to recover the Account?

See the attached picture. Message box concerning purging deleted msgs is back after latest update. I want to be able to clear the trash manually. This just showed up after the latest update.

I have seen in the past that people were wanting to know the same thing, but following the solutions from back in time don't work because too many things have changed.

Sooooo, how do I turn this off ?

I am running 78.9.1 (32-bit)

I am not using Lighting and do not want to use it. I already removed it everywhere I can. The one issue I still have is that when I get a calendar event in an email this is displayed in the lightning style. This has two disadvantages for me:

  • If it is an event with a note, this note is not displayed
  • The description is not rendered properly, so e.g. instead of seeing something in bold, I see the HTML tag. This makes the description almost unreadable

Especially the first one is quite annoying as I have to open the email website to find the note.

I am using Thunderbird 78 on Mac

Nach dem letzten Update werden bei mir auf allen Windows-Systemen (Windows 10) nach einem Neustart immer wieder alle Google-Kalender automatisch eingeblendet. Da ich eine ganze Menge verwalte, nervt das. Das Deaktivieren vor dem Beenden hat sonst immer dazu geführt, dass beim Neustart entsprechende Kalender auch deaktiviert waren. Jetzt sind immer wieder alle aktiv...

Außerdem scheint es Probleme beim Abspeichern zu geben. Wenn ich einen neuen Termin anlege, dann erscheint der "Windows-Bearbeitungs-Kreis". Der Termin ist inzwischen schon lange gespeichert, auch mit dem Online-Kalender synchronisiert und erscheint in anderen Geräten, der Kreis ist aber immer noch dauerhaft da.

Hello, I am using thunderbird with 3 pop3 accounts of a domain (let's call it test.com). Since 6 days ago , I can forward mails that I get from anything in my domain (test.com) with attachments, but when I try to forward from any other domain, the attachments don't add to the forwarded mail automatically and I need to forward them manually every time. This happens to all 3 pop3 accounts (they are all on the same domain) I am running the last thunderbird version on a windows 7 machine. The forwarding was working just fine for over 2 years and never had a problem with it on this computer. I didn't change anything in the settings. I have tried reinstalling thunderbird. Thank you in advance

sono possessore di un indirizzo pec aruba e nonostante abbia proceduto all'ampliamento della capienza dell'Archivio ho quasi nuovamente raggiunto il limite di spazio a mia disposizione. Pertanto ho necessità di comprendere se Thunderbird possa aiutarmi nella risoluzione del problema creando una copia locale dell'archivio della mia pec, così da poter liberare spazio nell'archivio della pec stessa procedendo alla eliminazione delle pec archiviate.

Ringrazio anticipatamente chi mi aiuterà nella risoluzione del problema.

Using Thunderbird Version 78.9.1, on Windows 10 20H2. I can no longer drag/drop an email contact from "All Address Books," "Personal Address Book," or "Collected Addresses," to any of my 12+ address lists. When I attempt to drag&drop, it places a duplicate contact in the source book instead of copying into the destination list. I'm not certain how long the problem has existed, the last time I needed to perform this task was about three months ago. I usually take upgrades as soon as they are offered.

Using Windows 10. After Thunderbird updated to 78.X it did not find my e-mail accounts (I was using 2) and it did not find my calender (lightning was working fine before). My address book is present. My profile folder is 10.7GB large, so I think the mails are there somewhere, but in no way can I make TB see them. I made a new profile and linked my profile folder to it: nothing happens. I copy-pasted it to a new profile folder: same thing. I did unhide the complete profile folder: no change... HELP!

my problem is the opposite. I was getting my email through telus web mail. Telus has decided to port everyone over to google mail...which I hate. I was told that the port would be smooth as silk and all Thunderbird would require is a couple of tweaks and all would be well.... on October 12th my email "handsonhistory@telus.net" was ported to google. I contacted telus tech support to help setting up Thunderbird and they deleted my profile. I was concerned that all of my "pop" email would disappear but the tech agent said that it would not. The tech agent then re-instated the email "handsonhistory@telus.net" and changed the account into an "imap" account he re-instated the handsonhistory@telus.net profile with-in thunderbird" and aimed it to google email servers. Well, all my emails disappeared. the agent said that there was a back-up somewhere and we could easily get my email back. I have tried everything and nothing has worked. I have a backup of the profile as of 2 days ago. I have tried redirecting Thunderbird to another email folder using the account settings to server settings to a version of the profile I placed on my "D" drive. The emails appear, the system becomes unstable, the the "script" is running message comes up with a continue or discontinue choice and no matter what you choose the emails disappear. I have tried over writing the mail folder within the profile found on the "C" drive and the same thing above happens? Telus will no longer help me and I have been left high and dry. I have another email that I need to activate for my wife but I am afraid to damage her inbox as it is color coded and represents years of work. Please can anyone help me? Todd

I'd like to search a folder for a named attachment, but I can't work out how to do it. When I select "Attachment" in the first column of the "Search Messages" window, no matter what I put in the second column (e.g., "is", "begins with") and no matter what I put in the third column (including the name of, or first letter of, an attachment known to be in the folder being searched), I always get the same result: "No matches found". A solution would be greatly appreciated as it is not an uncommon for me to need this kind of search. Thanks, Ian.
