FF will not ask if I need to save the pw and sign in...which box needs to be clicked to allow this once more????

Hello there:
if you paste "about:preferences#security" into your URL browser bar, you can toggle "Remember logins for sites".
If you've done this already, let me know! :D

How is safe mode done...
Make sure that you're not in permanent private browsing mode :
3-bar menu (or 'Tool's) => Advanced => Privacy => under 'History'": choose 'Use custom settings for history' and make sure that 'Always use private browsing mode' is unchecked.
