To use whatsapp web on firefox, do the following:
1. Open firefox on whatsapp web. 2. Open whatsapp on your mobile device, click the 3 dots < Linked devices < Link a device. 3. Scan the QR code displayed on firefox, and then just wait a few seconds as your phone and firefox sync messages.

The issue is due to using the rather old Firefox 86.0.1 released back on March 11, 2021.
Back in November 2025 the web whatsapp site made it so you need to use a more current version of Firefox as in Firefox 115 or later.
