My Thunderbird email account developed a problem, emails would download but contained no content. The same emails on on my provider's web site (Spectrum.com) did contain content. I want to fix this problem.

I am unable to send email. I either get this error message: 'Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) netsol-smtp-oxcs.hostingplatform.com timed out. Try again. The settings are: Description: Outgoing Server Type: SMTP Outgoing Server Server Name: netsol-smtp-oxcs.hostingplatform.com Port: 465 User Name: gene@genemaas.net Authentication method: Normal password Connection Security: SSL/TLS Successfully established a secure connection to netsol-smtp-oxcs.hostingplatform.com:465.

I get the same error using Port 587 and STARTTLS

I have also been asked for a password to connect to: netsol-imap-oxcs.hostingplatform.com I have never needed a password before and I do not have a password.

I do receive emails.

I finally got Thunderbird to not go to Rogers every time I get email. But now I cannot send any email from any address.When I try to send I get an error message. I cannot add an SMPT server as it will not take it

I am totally blind and have the most current version of JAWS, Windows 11 Pro, and Thunderbird installed on my HP desktop. Somehow, I'm no longer able to navigate between accounts on this computer. (I'm currently using another computer to send this message). On my other system, JAWS reads/speaks everything, whether I'm in Word, Edge, or Chrome. In Thunderbird, I get a "forms open" sound, and the speech says, "about". When I hit the Escape key, I'm out of "forms mode," and the screen seems to be blank. I can't seem to tab anywhere or get into any of the accounts to read my email. How do I fix this? I don't want to hve to uninstall Thumderbird and risk losing all my emails. After Windows 11 crash and re-install and Thunderbird re-install, where can I find my old address file and old email file location in saved backed up data, and filename format to import in new Thunderbird installation? I have done this once a long time ago and forgot.

I have installed Thunderbird 154 in Linux Xubuntu 26.04 and I have Thunderbird working fine except for the scrollbar arrow buttons. I was able to set the scrollbars to always show but arrows do not show. What do I need to set to bring those arrow buttons back?

A hacker got into one of my accounts. All emails to all accounts do not get past the Yahoo and Google servers and I've only been able to restore service through principal account. How can I save my data and correct the compromised settings?

Some good E-mails got moved into junk, so I right-clicked them and marked them as "not junk." Seconds later, they reappeared in the Junk folder.

Also, Thunderbird continues to classify messages from the same sender and even the same thread as junk. I read the doc here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-junk-spam-messages#w_tell-thunderbird-what-is-not-junk

and the behavior is not consistent with what's described, or what anyone would expect.

Is this a known bug?

After returning from a 6 day vacation, my wife attempted to download email from her Yahoo email account. There are nearly 200 messages that have piled up but they aren't moving. I've uninstalled and re-installed TB. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app password in Yahoo. There is no problem with accessing the email via any web browser. I spent 49 minutes on a tech support call with Yahoo and they have said the problem is with TB because they repeated the same steps I have. I checked firewall settings and the only antivirus program on the computer is Malware Bytes and it's not running in the background. The version of TB is the most recent as of yesterday. I don't see any sketchy looking emails in the web version of Yahoo Mail when it's opened. It's set up as a POP3 account and has been since Cox Internet gave their email over to Yahoo. I'd appreciate any assistance in resolving this because it's currently above my pay grade and tech support at Yahoo.

Thunderbird not connecting to server. It says timds out and an error occurred connecting to mobile.charter.net. I can neither send or receive emails. This started 8/20/2026

TB guidance is to maintain separate profiles for dual-booting (Kubuntu and Win11), rather than sharing the profile. That adds to IMAP churn, but also to disk space, of course. But the biggest concern is keeping Local Folders (a very large archive which is by far the largest part of my profile) coordinated: both sides must access the same Local Folders.

The option to specify "Message Storage" for Local Folders obviously addresses that problem: both Kubuntu and Win11 can have the same NTFS Local Folders storage. At the same time, each IMAP account also has the option to specify its own "Message Storage" "Local Directory" location outside of the profile folder. That suggests two obvious questions:

1. Why not specify shared storage for each account, as well as for Local Folders?
2. After Local Folders and all accounts are shared, then precisely what, from each profile, cannot be shared between Kubuntu and Windows? Does this bring us back to asking why the profile cannot simply be shared?

[Years ago, when my email accounts were POP, I had no problem sharing a profile between WinXP and an earlier Ubuntu variant. (Of course with POP, they had to share.) Is today's separate-profiles guidance related to IMAP accounts or to some other change in TB design?]

can anyone shed some light on how to resolve my issue here where........ having more than one hotmail account confuses the *Identities* for each mailbox,

in Thunderbird properties one goes into each accounts *Account settings* then to *Manage Identities* (at the bottom of the page)......there one sets the *default* identity for that email account. The problem I'm encountering is when there are more than a single hotmail account one cannot select more than just one identity to fill into that space. One sets a *default* identity & that single identity doesn't allow the other hotmail identities to function properly. I am getting a constant *Failed to connect to server @ outlook.office.365.com.* because two of the three the identity trying connect to the server are not the *default* identity. The *default* identity will connect to the server. I have 3 hotmail accounts loaded into Thunderbird anyone know of a solution to this?

I can send emails but I cannot receive them. I can receive them at Spectrum.net. The problem started the evening of the 26th. Everything was fine during the day. But in the evening I could no longer get email. I am not aware of making any changes to either Thunderbird or to Spectrum. I did call Spectrum but they could not find any problem on their end. I recently changed the password in Spectrum but Thunderbird has the updated password. All of the settings in Thunderbird look right. Any ideas on what I should do?

I installed Thunderbird on my new laptop, then imported the profile from my old laptop

The main screen has, under "Inbox", folders for Drafts, Sent, Trash, Archive and Spam, which are being used by the program

Folders for Drafts, Sent and Trash also appear under "Local Folders" (along with Outbox) and these aren't being used by the program.

How do I get rid of these duplicate folders? "Spam" had a delete option, so that was easy, but the others don't.

I tried the two suggestions for a previous "Duplicates" question but they didn't resolve things.

My old Widows 10 computer died. All I have left of it is the last full Acronis 2020 backup. I have installed Thunderbird on my new Windows 11 computer and want to restore my Profile data from the backup. How do I find them? Have been searching for days and can't find anything like in your profiles help article.

If I can't recover the data can you at least send me my current license key?
