Locked out of Firefox Account...

more options

Hello,

I have just had to reinstall WINDOWS 10 on my computer.

In the process of doing this I forgot that I had 2-Step Verification switched on in the Firefox account (that I'm now locked out of), so when I downloaded Firefox and installed it again, I then went to log into my account to sync the numerous add-ons and bookmarks I'd saved over years.

Anyway, long story short, I missed entering the 2-step code and now it seems that I'm locked out of that account? And, I have tried many ways to access the account, without success.

Now, I don't have any 10 digit recovery codes and (see the attached image) any time I attempt to get a confirmation link via email NOTHING turns up in my inbox.

In short, I have no idea what to do here or what my options are?

Is there anyone here who can save me a great deal of grief and help me get back into my original Firefox Sync account. I would be enormously grateful to anyone who can help me sort this out.

I'm afraid that without 2FA recovery codes you are out of luck with accessing this Firefox Account. You will have to create a new Firefox Account with a different email address.

Hello,

Okay, after extensively searching my old drives I found the 10 digit 2FA recovery codes.

Now, how do I apply them to gain entry to my old account?

I keep trying to log in and Firefox sends me a confirmation email. However, this confirmation email never shows up (and yes, I've checked the spam folder). I have tried this a number of times, same (no email showing up) result.

So, if I'm not receiving any confirmation email from Firefox, I can't enter the 10 digit 2FA recovery code to access my account, so I'm still in the same place. What do I do to access my sync account again?

Kenneth Doyle PS: I apologise for my previous blast. I thought I'd lost many, many years of research.

Did you try to go directly to the accounts.firefox.com website to see if you can login there ?

Hello,

Yes. I've tried there and I get taken to this page "https://accounts.firefox.com/confirm" wih my account email address on it. It supposedly sends me a confirmation email which NEVER arrives, irrespective of how many times I request that email confirmation to be sent.

And, yes, I have checked the spam folder.

So, I have all of the necessary credentials to be able to access my blocked account (email address, password and a 10 digit recovery code), but if I don't get that email from Firefox, I'm stuck.

What do you suggest now?

Kenneth

Well, I finally got this blocked account issue sorted out, by using Microsoft EDGE to log into my Firefox Sync account and then adding the recovery code when requested.

Oh, and I switched off the 2-Step security too. I don't want this bad experience again.

So, Firefox is so secure it doesn't send emails to its account holders and so you have to use another browser (Microsoft Edge) to be able to get access to and validate the Firefox account because Firefox doesn't send an email for you to be able to validate and unblock your blocked account??!!

Hmmm.
