more options

The various web pages are not rendering correctly. Lines are in the wrong spot, images are missing etc dumped all caches I've uninstalled manually deleted FF profiles (appdata and program files directories) reinstalled, problem persists uninstalled again repeat above disabled Eset AV since it has a web component reinstalled turned off hardware acceleleration (did that up above too) dumped cache yet again and here we are... still screwed up also NO extensions/ or add ons oh and it persists in safe mode

I'm out of options, it is FF 50.01 oh and I'm in IT and I have no idea how to proceed. At this point I generally use Chrome which has zero issues. Oh and looking at the troubleshooting info I don't seem to have an option on the plug ins? (which adds a lot of variables

Any ideas, I'm out of them. (oh and I do support all day and it's only this one computer that's all screwy)

Are you using a High Contrast theme?

Make sure you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.

Make sure you allow pages to choose their own colors.

  • Options/Preferences -> Content : Fonts & Colors -> Colors : "Override the colors specified by the page with my selections above"

Try "Never" if the default "Only with High Contrast themes" isn't working.

This setting affects background images.

Well tried all that,, it was all at defaults. Here's another example. The google page has no box around the search box.

The internal firefox pages do not render correctly. Here is another screen shot.

Oh reminder.. no extensions Default 50 theme (dated about 2 weeks ago i believe) Starting in safe mode does not change anything. Win 7, windows classic display theme as noted previously uninstalled, manually deleted profile directory

Create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Win 7, windows classic display theme

I never noticed the "Windows Classic" display theme before. It is like Windows XP took over my system.

However, I still have background colors and images throughout Firefox as long as I do not select "Always" under "Override the colors specified by the page with my selections above" in the Colors dialog. The default setting of "Only with High Contrast themes" (or the "Never" option) allows the backgrounds through.

(Note: if something changes as a result of exiting and restarting Firefox, I haven't tested that.)

So far new profile zero change. Very odd if it's localized to this PC I have zero idea. Chrome works fine Here's a comparison screen shot rendering is totally f* up.

The only way I can get that display with a normal Windows 7 theme is

Options > Content > Colors > "Override the colors specified by the page with my selections above" => Always

But yours is set to "Never" and you still get the override?

Do you have any compatibility settings in your Firefox shortcut? To check on that, either:

  • Desktop shortcut: right-click the icon, choose Properties
  • Pinned taskbar icon: right-click the icon, right-click Mozilla Firefox, choose Properties

Windows normally will select the Shortcut tab. Click the Compatibility tab. For best results, make sure no checkboxes are checked here. (Example screenshot attached.)
