How do I get regular websites to a taskbar icon?

I use some features regularly (e.g. certain websites). In the past I could get a logo icon on the taskbar for quick and easy access to the website. I am able to have logo icons posted on the taskbar for websites that require I download their program.

But for websites that are reference oriented I cannot figure out how to get a logo icon posted on the taskbar. I did it on a previous computer, but don't remember what I did. I've tried everything I can think of and have conducted web searches for help. All proved fruitless.

Can you help??

You can place those on the bookmarks toolbar for easy access.

I know, but I have numerous sites on the favorites list and have to scroll down through a long list looking for the site I want. Even if I move the more regularly used sites to the top of the list it is a bit cumbersome. Clicking on an icon at the bottom of the screen is much more convenient.

Are you saying it cannot be done??

Just as fredmcd ^^pointed out, bookmarks are great for constantly used websites. I also like to do folders first specifics as work, home, play, etc. There should also be an option in your settings by the homepage selection where you can add more than one home page if you want all of them to come up when you log on.

Hi   bradbdad,

Why don't you just put some shortcuts to those websites on your desktop   ?

You may drag icons to the desktop to create desktop shortcuts, as mentioned by Happy112.

In Windows 10 you will presumably have a taskbar button for Firefox. Note if you right click that you should see a list of Frequent tabs/sites and on selecting them have an option to pin them.

You may also wish to consider using bookmarks or pinned tabs. Bookmarks should be easy to find.

Also maybe consider using the pinned tiles on the newtab page
