Hi! An update normally shouldn't delete your bookmarks. In many cases, Firefox has started using a different profile, so your old bookmarks are still on the computer. Mozilla specifically recommends checking this after an update.
First, don't uninstall Firefox or delete any profiles.
1. In Firefox, type "about:profiles" in the address bar and press Enter. 2. Look for another profile besides the one currently in use. 3. Click Launch profile in new browser for the other profile. 4. If your bookmarks appear there, return to "about:profiles" and click Set as default profile for that profile.
If there isn't another profile containing your bookmarks, try Bookmarks → Manage bookmarks → Import and Backup → Restore and select the most recent backup from before the update. Firefox normally keeps automatic bookmark backups.
If neither method works, please check whether you have an Old Firefox Data folder on your Desktop. Your previous profile may still be stored there and can potentially be recovered.
Do not delete or overwrite anything in your Firefox profile yet, as that could make recovery more difficult.
Help not only have all bookmarks disappeared but my profile has been deleted & replaced with one that has nothing in it but an email. the update not only destroyed all bookmarks, browsing history but now makes my computer run so slow I cannot access two windows at any time which I could on Sept 5, 2026. My computer is running speedily but anything that requires Firefox crashes all the time & the crash report simply says ... Firefox has crashed nothing to copy or send that your community says to send. My computer is quite old but over 10 years but has plenty of storage space. One person asks if Firefox's updates worked for newer machines & made them run better but does not work on older machines. could this be the issue??? Please stop ignoring me as I keep posting this question; I see many others seems to experience this issue & are having the same recovery issues. FYI ... my computer tech cant fix it either as there appears to be NO FIREFOX BACKUP !!!! dona bretherick
