I use Thunderbird's Message Filters to sort my incoming mail. I have about 31 filters, some of which are long ("Delete Junk" and "Advertisements" are two, which OR many domains and send mail directly to trash or a specific "Adverts" folder). I also use several Linux computers and run Thunderbird on each computer for connecting to my GMail account (IMAP). I like to synchronize my filters between my Linux hosts. I've been pointed to the file for copying filters between hosts: HOME/.thunderbird/MyProfile/ImapMail/imap.googlemail.com/msgFilterRules.dat

Copying that file between hosts (or using it as a backup after SNAP damaged my profile again) only partially works. The filter name, action, etc copies alright, but when triggered, the filter fails as the "folder" does not exist. Of course, the folder still exists and has for a long time. The following is a log entry from such a failing for a "magazine" entry for "Aeon".

The entry in msgFilterRules.dat reads as follows after the failure: name="Aeon magazine" enabled="no" type="17" action="Move to folder" actionValue="imap://mdalphin%40gmail.com@imap.gmail.com/Maillists/Aeon" condition="AND (from,ends with,aeon.co)"

A "diff" from a saved version of the file that worked shows that it is identical except for "enabled".

This failure happens to 100% of my filters - the "actionValue" is not recognized as I move the file between hosts or different profiles. I need to re-select the desired folder in the drop-down list of "Move to:" in the "Edit Filter" dialog.

Any idea on what is going wrong? It is as if there is some cache of recognized Imap folders that have unique IDs on a per host basis. Is there anyway I could make this copying work better without need to restore each of the 31 folders every time I make a copy?

I believe I have noticed a change in the operation of Calendar Event notifications, following recent updates to Thunderbird, in the past week or more. I am currently on release 137.0.2 (64-bit) running on a Linux Desktop. This computer gets shut down every night, and rebooted the following morning. When a calendar reminder has been snoozed, and the snooze time expires when the computer is not running, and Thunderbird is not running, those calendar reminders used to show up the next time Thunderbird was started after the computer was rebooted, even if the calendar event time had already passed. In the last week or so, following recent updates, I believe this is no longer happening.

Also, I believe that calendar events that have reminders set, that have not been snoozed, whose reminder time happens when the computer is shut down, are also not being shown reminders the next time the computer is started, if the reminder time happened when Thunderbird was not running. This is also a change from the way it used to work. For example, if an event is marked as starting at 10:00 AM, with a reminder set for 2 hours before (which would be 8 AM), and the computer is booted and Thunderbird is started at 8:30 AM, that reminder no longer happens. That is a change from the way it used to work. A few weeks ago, in that scenario, the reminder would have been shown the next time Thunderbird started up.

Thunderbirdを一度アンインストールし、再インストールを試みましたが、改善されませんでした。 また、メールアドレスとパスワードに誤りはないことを確認済みです。

IMAPではメールの受信は可能ですが、メッセージを送信することができない状態です。 大変お手数をおかけいたしますが、これらの問題の原因や解決方法についてご教示いただけますでしょうか。

I have to use a Microsoft365 account for work, and I was lucky enough to obtain the possibility of connecting to it via imap.

Thunderbird filters work for all my other imap accounts, but not for the M365. I'm wondering if others are experiencing and and if there is a solution/workaround.

There is a bug in the Thunderbird Newsreader which affects composing replies to messages.

After clicking the Followup button and attempting to reply to a newsgroups message in the middle of quoted text if you click on enter to create a new line in the middle of the quoted text, type the first words of the reply and then delete a miss-typed character Thunderbird will add a new line to the bottom of the quoted text above your signature. If you delete more characters it will add more new lines to the bottom and then finally if you delete the new line you entered it will move the typing prompt to the bottom of the quoted text after the extra new lines it previously added.

This bug is present in 138.0 (64-bit) and in the previous version and the version before that and probably earlier versions too. The big did not exist in version 115.8.1.

When I send an email to a single address that isn't in my address book, I get a yellow warning at the bottom of the Write: panel saying that the 247 recipients in To and Cc will see each other's address. The sent email shows the one address, in fact, so it looks like it works as expected, but why do I get the warning? If I address the message to someone in my address book, I don't get the warning.

This morning, my Thunderbird email stopped working although it was working fine a few hours earlier. The following is the error message: "Sending of password for user lepitzki@telusplanet.net did not succeed. Mail server pop.gmail.com responded: [AUTH] Username and password not accepted." After trying to find a solution at telus.com, my internet provider, I finally spoke to a real person (after nearly an hour on hold) who informed me that the recent google gmail update now prohibits third party email services, such as Outlook or Thunderbird, from connecting to Telus gmail email. And, that there is no work around or solution and that a supervisor could not offer anything further. I have been using Thunderbird for telus email for decades, I weathered the storm when Telus email moved to using the gmail platform, and I have many, many folders and subfolders. The Thunderbird third party platform allows permanent offline archiving of emails, which I require for my work. Is Thunderbird aware of this major issue caused by an update via Google? Thunderbird has worked great for me for years, up until a few days ago. Currently running 137.0.2 and am encountering two problems. I have several emails and this has not been a problem in the past.

Now, I start TB and all works fine for minutes or an hour or two and then some inboxes start to display "No message found". If I close TB and restart it all is good, but noit for long.

The other issue which pops up is

"The folder '[Gmail]/All Mail on XXXXXX@gmail.com' could not be compacted because writing to folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space, and that you have write privileges to the file system, then try again."

I have over 200GB free on the drive.

Thanks for any help solving this!

PS Win 10 Pro, so maybe time for me to upgrade to Win 11 which I plan to do in the few weeks anyway.

Hi Tbird/Mozilla - still like your app for years, but I have a question been meaning to ask for a long time. I'd like to know why, when I forward an email from Tbird that has hyperlinks in it, that

a) all the hyperlinks disable and b) the entire email renders into a bunch of text frames.

This VERY annoying. You cannot simply copy any of the forwarded-format content as you have to tangle with all the damn text frames and all the hyperlinks you're trying to forward to the receiver are dead! Why would anyone want to forward an email that behaves like this? The live hyperlinks are what you're trying to foward! Maybe it's just a setting? Feedback please, I am donor :) Thanks. jt
