How do I get all my info out so I can (hopefully) start another acount that speaks English?
I wrote this on 13 June 2022: ...I am signed into a Firefox account. I have used this account on at least three different computers. I have downloaded the application anew at least a dozen times.
Firefox randomly, from where I sit, opens things in French rather than English. How can I keep it in English unless otherwise specified (I occasionally want German or Japanese)?
None of the suggestions worked. I reported that, but the thread was archived rather than answered.
How can I get all the info out of my account and try to start another that speaks English reliably?

Since no one here knows what region your from or what Firefox language your using or what if you use VPN/Proxy that changes your location can also cause Firefox language to change as well. Where are you download Firefox from?
You could try this. Hover over your user name in the top right corner of this page. On the drop-down at the far left you see View profile > Edit profile. Press the last link and you get https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/users/edit. Some way down the list you will find Preferred language.
Is this about the language for web pages or about the language for the Firefox user interface ?
If the Firefox user interface (toolbars) is in the wrong language or if you want to change the current language, download Firefox in the language of your choice.
The first language setting in Settings is about the language for the user interface and second setting is about the preferred languages for webpages.
- Settings -> General -> Language and Appearance -> Language
Are you using a proxy or VPN?
You can check the connection settings.
- Settings -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet, select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.
See "Firefox connection settings":
Thank you for your suggestions.
I have several versions of firefox on four devices. It happens on at least two. They were all downloaded in and for English.
My preferred language in my settings is English. My language settings only show English.
I sometimes use a VPN, but this happened long before I got it, and it doesn't matter if it's on or off in terms of the random French sites.
I've been checking and rechecking these for a year. Two devices have gone. Two more have arrived. French continues.
Oops... I'm in Seattle, WA, USA and downloading locally in English, for English, and without a VPN, though I occasionally use one. The problem started before I got the VPN and doesn't seem to have any relationship to it.
Thank you, and it's on multiple devices in multiple locations, over at least a year, so I don't think it's my IP.
Is there any way to get my data out or did I just loose the last decade because I've stuck with this problem way too long?
I've checked my IP address. It is clearly, and accurately, in the USA.
