I am seeing the creation of a file "logins.db" when opening thunderbird.

When I open the file with textedit, it begins with "SQLite format 3". It looks like a script to me, including things like "ON loginsL (is_deleted, origin)" and "idx_loginsM_is_overridden_origin".

I can delete and it's recreated when launching Thunderbird.

Is this file legit? Can anyone confirm having this file, too? I'm running Mac OS 15.7.1 with Thunderbird 145.

"Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password"

I have verified server info on apple support and verified username and password is what i use on all other devices. Username and password also works on MS outlook.

When I try to start Thunderbird on my old laptop I enter my primary password when requested, but it does not seem to be recognised and the dialogue box keeps reappearing. If I select 'cancel' it allows me into Thunderbird but only displays some very old emails. How can I resolve this please?

Hello! I have a question regarding Thunderbird version 144.0.1.

The server is configured locally and isolated from the Internet. There is an issue: when the network cable is unplugged (no network connection), saving received emails with attachments (for example, total file size of 14 MB) to the hard drive happens quickly — about 5 seconds. However, as soon as the PC is connected to the local network, the saving process for such attachments slows down significantly — up to 60 seconds.

I would appreciate your help with analyzing this issue and possible solutions. What could be the cause of this behavior?

I backed up Thunderbird and reloaded it after I had been hacked in gmail, but now I have 2 profiles accessing the same gmail. One shows the gmail address and the other is my old "local" profile. The old one has my typical 16000 emails, while the new one shows 30,000 emails with no doubles. Can I delete the new one?

I have been using Thunderbird to access my comcast emails. I never had a problem with it. However, this afternoon, just out of the blue Thunderbird cannot download my emails, the following message popped up: "Login to server mail.comcast.net with username xxxxxxx failed." Then Thunderbird asks for a new password. When I enter the still correct password, it displays the same error message. I did not change anything in the settings before this error message popped up. I tried ChatGPT to get some answers, but whatever I changed it had no effect. I am attaching a screenshot of the server settings (I have of course removed my username). I would be grateful for any advice as to how to fix the issue. Thanking you.

I've been unable to use TB since July/August 2025. I don't have detailed documentation of the details, but my recollection is that an error was occurring whenever I would try to send an email. My troubleshooting led to the possibility that the problem was with the SMTP protocol.

  Please let me know whether anything more was contributed here in this forum. Meanwhile I will install TB again and try to re-created the problem.

Hi,

I am trying to remove a large number of e-mails from my Inbox. The standard advice says to hold down Ctrl or Shift and select e-mails, then right click, and choose rubbish bin symbol to delete. The advice says you will get a confirmation message, but that doesn't happen. Only the e-mail right clicked on actually deletes; all the rest stay put.

I have tried deleting the trash file to force it to recreate. I have tried updating Thunderbird, but I'm already on version 145.0. I use gmail.

Does anyone know of a working method for doing multiple deletions?

I was trying to change the time emails are kept on the server so I went into "Account Settings" and now Thunderbird is locked onto this page. I get a "Mozilla Thunderbird not responding" message when I try and click on anything and I can't get out of this page nor access my Inbox. I've tried starting Thunderbird in Safe Mode which didn't work. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of Thunderbird but when it starts it goes straight back to the frozen "Account Settings" page. I've checked my profile and there is a new profile that was created with today's date. There is also a profile from June 2025. If the old profile contains all my emails and folders up to yesterday, that would be OK.

I've been wanting to access Thunderbird's encryption ability on both my laptop and desktop. However, in setting up Tbird on my laptop I notice the user Profile should stay on one computer. Can I use the same Profile on more than one computer using the same source and password? Can I open a new profile on a second computer, even though I would have to use the same email source, a local provider? I'm just getting set up with Thunderbird. I used to use Postbox, and imported my Postbox profile into Thunderbird, which overall worked great – it got all my local email folders, and brought in my Apple email account, and so forth. The only wrinkle I've noticed so far is that it also created an account named "server7.invalid" that I can't delete. If I go to Account Settings, for "server7.invalid" it states "The following is a special account. There are no identities associated with it." The only items underneath it are "Spam Settings" and "Disk Space". There is no red Delete button for it, the way there is for my two real (IMAP) email accounts. Viewed on the Mail tab, it appears to contain only "Trash" and "Outbox", and both of those are empty. This weird invalid account doesn't seem to be doing any harm, but of course it is ugly and I just want it to go away. Help?

Removed/deleted the accounts and tried to setup again and get error unable to login at server, probably wrong configuration, username or password. username and password are entered correctly, changed them just to verify, using default settings and appear to match what their supposed to be as documented. I have 4 accounts in Thunderbird, each with an Inbox. Thunderbird shows the blue 'inbox' icon next to these accounts in their respective account folders, but only two of them show up in the "Unified Folders" inbox. I don't see any way to add the other two inboxes to the Unified Folders inbox.

It's possible I accidentally removed the two missing inboxes, but I am not sure how I could have done that. Is it possible to add them back in?
