How can I lock my screen so it will not add stuff I don't want?

After browsing the internet, i find new stuff on my screen. Then I have to spend time deleting all the shortcuts I don't want. I have the home screen set the way I want it and don't want it to arbitrarily add short cuts I don't want or need. I hate it when it messes up what I have set.

You can click the Gear Icon in the top-right corner and find the master toggle switch next to Shortcuts. Turn it off. The row should delete, fixing your problem.
