Using Microsoft Edge I had no problems logging on so the issue must be with Firefox security controls. I have turned off Ad Blocker Ultimate as well as made an exception for cookies from this site. What can I do to fix this?

Currently using FF v94.0.1 64-bit (I usually lag an update or two behind to ensure stability -- my highest priority -- and avoid surprises.)


1) I notice that unless there are a sufficient number of tabs opened across a browser window as stretched to a given width, thus triggering the left-right ("<" , ">") tab-scroll arrows to appear, the TAB MENU itself (aka "List all tabs" button, a "v" down-arrow on the far right) is not present. Nor is there an equivalent way to initiate a tab search within the main MENU BAR (FILE, EDIT, VIEW, etc.) that I could find. This restricts access to the SEARCH TABS feature.

This "automatically keep-it-tidy feature" is not really an issue when only a single browser window is open. However, I have many windows (on different topics of interest), each with many tabs.

I can switch to another browser window that has enough open tabs to have triggered the TAB MENU, then search from there. Or I can use the address bar "%" method).

(Actually, I'm pleasantly surprised that Firefox, running on my older PC, is stable with hundreds of tabs open as accumulated over many months. Clearly I should change my habits!)


2) On your support page titled "Search open tabs in Firefox" at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/search-open-tabs-firefox , it describes (via examples) using the "List all tabs"/TAB MENU button to access the "Search Tabs" feature. It also outlines using the address bar "%" method.

Unless I misread the article, what it does not make clear, is that the "Search Tabs" feature works the same as "% xyz" in the address bar; whereas using "%xyz" (note the missing space) yields different results (apparently the same as "xyz %"; but "xyz%" yields nothing). Nor does it explain the reason for the different results or the importance/desirability/weirdness of using one method over the other -- it simply presents the examples. I believe this help page could use some expansion/clarification.


3) I noticed that when performing "search tabs" via either the address bar (using "%") or via the TAB MENU, the results do not include any open tabs using "containers" (apparently the same as any open tabs within "private" windows).

I am increasingly using the "container" features by opening then permanently assigning many "sensitive" web sites to one of the container categories. The increased security is a nice idea.

However, with many browser windows open, each with many tabs, this inability to search for and conveniently find open tabs is increasingly frustrating and is nudging me back towards NOT using containers.

Can't some solution be found to maintain the privacy between tabs (and perhaps even private windows) while permitting a tab search to work more thoroughly?


In summary, I simply want to be able to find ALL occurrences of any partial string of searched-for text within ALL tabs in either their title OR address, normal AND container tabs, and preferably in normal AND private windows.

At present I see only a list of 12 results and no means of listing more. Sometimes my "known" open (normal/non-container) tab is not present in that short list (perhaps a preference/sort order is needed for tab titles vs. addresses).

Why not a "List more results", or a selector button to scroll-list "10, 20, 40, 100, ALL", or a button to open and continue with a listing of ALL matching results in a separate pop-up window, etc?

I do not have these errors with other browsers. Any ideas? If not I will have to go to another browser.

Why does Thunderbird 94.0.2 crashe on loading large image files? Like larger than 3MB?

Why?

And what am I doing wrong to cause this?

Running ROCK SOLID Windows 7 SP 1 64 bit. Last week updated 64 bit FF from 88xx to 94.0.2. EVERYTHING was working fine with FF 88 except for videos on CNN.

After update when I right click in FF the small Context Menu freezes. Subsequent right clicks launches the same Menu. See attached image. When I mess around with scrolling they go away.

Also, when I'm going back and forth between a FF web page and a file in another app to cut and paste text or images, half of one or the other screens hang.

I'm an old geek and I did ALL of the recommendations including a complete clean uninstall and clean reinstall of FF 94.0.2... I've spent hours trying to solve the problem...

I'm having NO PROBLEMS with Chrome or Opera or any other SW on this PC.

BTW, DON'T EVEN SUGGEST GOING TO Windows 10 or 11. I have 10 but I use 7 on this PC for a lot of reasons.

Like I said, problems began after 94.0.2 update.

The release note of FF Ver:93 states this:"When available system memory is critically low, Firefox on Windows will automatically unload tabs based on their last access time, memory usage, and other attributes. This should help reduce Firefox out-of-memory crashes. Switching to an unloaded tab automatically reloads it."

This is something those of us with modest RAM (4GB, in my case) have been waiting for, for quite a while. But, FF continues to hog significant memory in spite of the claimed changes as above. I don't see any perceivable changes to my system performance thus far even a few days since the update. The issue, as you'd know better, elevated RAM usage invariably causes a continual spike in Paging, leading to excessive Disk (HDD) usage > resulting in an unresponsive system, which eventually ends up in a system freeze (in my case at least). The only way out being a hard power-down and restart of the system.

I have also set the "Content process limit" to 4 in the settings to no avail. We'd appreciate if you could configure FF behavior to adapt when system resources are low than wait for things to be critical.

And heres the issue: Firefox keeps opening tabs randomly which are related to pornographic websites like xxnx, pornhub, evilangel n' etc..

Heres things ive tried, but didnt work: -Install tdsskiller & scan -Scan with Avast Antivirus -Uninstalling Firefox and delete registry entries -Getting IE8 or G**gle Chr*me for Windows XP SP3

Any way to resolve this problem? i can't watch these things!

It made me feel productive as it was the app store of an OS ,which was also there back then. But why was it discontinued? If there is any reason, please reply and If possible, please try recreating it. Here are the new firefox marketplace icons I suggest which I got from the web archive. Each icon is larger than the previous one. And if possible, please work on firefox OS too.

Had single user admin setup using FFox for years. Once I set up FFox years ago, I long forgot what my email sign in was, of the three emails I have.... aol, yahoo and gmail.

Recently a file corrupted. Apple techs suggested opening second admin as test user. Test user admin worked fine. In process of testing, I discovered FFox in THAT tester admin opened differently.... no more Bookmarks Toolbar, no History Trail.

One Apple tech suggested looking into 2nd admin (test) account to see my sign in. It was AOL acct. I did not select a sign in acct. I simply opened FFox browser to test it. Went back to 1st acct (original) and FFox signed in with Yahoo acct. I never realized this. All those years had been opening through Yahoo acct.

Apple tech said all I needed to do was switch AOL acct back to Yahoo sign in to once again see all my previous Bookmarks Toolbar and History Trail. I've spent HOURS searching how to simply switch accounts in same admin browser. Why is something so simple, impossible to find. Perhaps it can't be done.

The closest I came was to do this - click upper right corner (3 lines) in browser and click on email address > click Acct settings > click Manage acct. When the Accounts page appears, I see only a Primary email entry (AOL) with no options next to it, and below it, Secondary email (which says None) with button next to it indicating Add.

When I click it, new window appears asking to enter Secondary email address. I enter yahoo address, click SAVE and red box appears saying "ACCOUNT ALRERADY EXISTS" I KNOW THE ACCOUNT ALREADY EXISTS. IF FFOX KNOWS THIS, WHY WON'T IT ALLOW ME TO SWITCH TO IT?????????

That's as far as I can go. Even signing into the Sync acct asking which account to sign in with, I use Yahoo but next time I open FFox, still back to AOL.

I will say, once I was in my 2nd test admin and opened Chrome to test as I did FFox, Chrome AUTOMATICALLY updated to same Chrome from 1st admin (corrupted) which included same Bookmarks etc from 1st admin Chrome.

But not so with FFox. Not so.

If there is anyone on the planet who may have knowledge of how to simply switch sign in account from AOL to Yahoo, I would LOVE to meet that person. Thank you!

I'm using Firefox ESR 78.15 with a slightly modified Arkenfox user.js

I keep getting two "Unknown Collection" messages in the console after startup.

The first one reads Unknown Collection "main/messaging-experiments" in the headline, while the following text is shown in the drop down menu: "UnknownCollectionError resource://services-settings/RemoteSettingsClient.jsm:155 sync resource://services-settings/RemoteSettingsClient.jsm:455 InterpretGeneratorResume self-hosted:1158 AsyncFunctionNext self-hosted:693

The second one reads "Unknown Collection "main/cfr-fxa" in the headline, with the same text in the drop down menu as above.

Can someone please explain what these messages mean and if it is something to be concerned about?

I've spent quite some time, but couldn't find out.

Restore tabs

I lost all my tabs recently & wanted to restore them. The advice via Help topic was to click the 3 horizontal lines, click history & then click "restore previous… (funda kabanzi)

I lost all my tabs recently & wanted to restore them. The advice via Help topic was to click the 3 horizontal lines, click history & then click "restore previous session" However I do not have that selection. I have the other shown but not restore previous session. I do have the latest version of FF & am on chrome. I was able to restore my tabs one at a time, but in the future I would like the ability to easily restore the whole session. Thanks for any suggestions.
