New web page will not save to folder of choice in Bookmarks Toolbar.

Yes I have been using this correct option to save to a folder of choice for years. Sometimes it does save and on other days, today for instance, it does not save. Then it seems that it will appear the next day or later. This is strange to me. Does the whole system need to be reset? I do have the long Mozilla Account Security Code. Or is there something in Trouble Shooting to correct this? I do save all my bookmarks and will do again if a refresh or reset is needed.

I await the solution.

Do you close Windows via Restart now and then as Power off etc. keeps old settings.

Normally I close my ****.msn.com email and other pages from file (upper left) then to bottom and Exit. Occasionally when experiencing glitches, I will Restart. Then periodically I will clear recent browsing history, cookies and cached files from the "Show recent history from the clock-face button on the tool bar. What else could you suggest that actually works? I just tried to save an article from the New York Times digital web page, chose my folder from Location, Show Editor is checked and this time it did save to my choice. The save was set to Bookmark Toolbar before I changed the location to my chosen folder.The vagaries of the system....or ???? I will just play with it.

Amoun, link went to my questions of 7Aug'26. You provided no solution, but "some" have had this too. What to do: Reset Fire Fox, Delete Fire Fox after saving Bookmarks. Reinstall it or use the quick transfer tool? Can you do a online link to be in my machine? Just let me know if you are real or AI generated.

I'm having this problem. It seems to be stuck saving new bookmarks to the same location even if I choose another location. I noticed it a few weeks ago, but it looks like it's been happening for quite a while based on the number of bookmarks I found in the "stuck" location.

I have several bookmark folders and sub-folders for categories. For example, I have a Games folder with sub-folders for different games, and a software folder with sub-folders for different types of software.

I was sure I had bookmarked something to the root software folder, then a few weeks later I couldn't remember the name of the bookmark, so I was looking for that bookmark and couldn't find it. I was thinking I might have accidentally not saved it, but I ended up finding the link in my history. When I went to the page it showed it was bookmarked by the blue star in the address bar. I clicked the star, and it was saved to one of the Games sub-folders. I thought I had done it by mistake, but when I edited the bookmark and chose a new location, it stayed in that same folder. I tried removing the bookmark and creating it again, but it still put it in that folder, ignoring the location I was trying to put it.

I opened the bookmarks library, browsed to that folder and found dozens of bookmarks I have made over the past several weeks there, and I know I didn't accidentally select the same exact folder by mistake for all of them.

It seems like the choose location for new bookmarks broke in an update several weeks ago. If I bookmark a new page, or try to edit an existing bookmark using the star in the URL bar, it always places it in that Games/GameName folder.

What I'm having to do for now is open the bookmarks library with CTRL-SHIFT-O, and drag it to the location I want it to go. If I use the star to bookmark it, it will end up in that Games/GameName folder.

Are you using sync or the bookmarks are just locally on one device?

Using just the PC. I can usually find a work around. Yesterday created a new folder, put 2 web pages into that folder, but it did not show on the bookmark list. Created a new folder and copied them to that new one. It did not show on Manage Bookmarks either. But I could find these new web pages on Recently Bookmarked. Just give me a standard procedure from one of the help pages. Thanks.

This sounds like a bug. I'm wondering how was that related to your use of containers in support.mozilla.org/questions/1600284 and whether that solved the issue or not.
