as I've tried to ask in your help pages, I'm being asked to download Firefox. I'm then told I already have it! Why is this so?

The only time I have seen people say they are told to download Firefox when they have it is when they are trying to install an Extension on Firefox on iOS/iPadOS.

Firefox on iOS/iPadOS is basically a shell webkit as browser engine instead of Gecko as the desktop and Android Firefox uses. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-ons-firefox-ios

Though you appear to be running Firefox 152 on Windows 10.

Therefore until I get windows 11, which will be soon, should I ignore?

It would be interesting to know where you see such prompts, if you can attach screenshots of the messages, both to update, and then you're up to date, to help understand where might be a gap if that's something under Mozilla control.
