Emails received in Webmail but not in Thunderbird

Hello,

I have used thunderbird for years. I have several email accounts on thunderbird. I own a small company with a private domain. The last [work] email both my employee and i received in Thunderbird was on 10/27/2025. The emails just stopped arriving in our inboxes. We can both access email through webmail. Personally i am still able to access all my other emails (gmail.com, comcast.net).

I checked with Hostgator and my thunderbird email settings are correct.

I did not have a SSL certificate so i have just onboarded that feature (not sure if that has any relevance to our current predicament).

Thoughts on how to troubleshoot this problem? Is it possible Thunderbird has made a recent software change?

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks, Melissa

It may help if you post a screenshot of your incoming server settings pane and one of any error messages you receive when attempting to retrieve mail.

We uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird yesterday. The messages state it is a peer certificate issue. I did renew the SSL yesterday, i do not know if this is relevant. We ran a scan using immuniweb and our grade report was an F (!!!!!!!). Any guidance appreciated. I'm unclear what needs to be done to rectify the situation. Regards, Melissa

In most cases, certificate errors are caused by interfering antivirus apps that inject themselves between TB and the mail server. Your case might be different because you have a custom domain and require your own certificate. Probably best to contact Hostgator, as they know that topic well.
