Could you right-click the little speaker icon on the Windows Taskbar, then click Open Volume Mixer.

If you don't see a bar for Firefox, leave that window open, switch over to Firefox, and start something that plays audio.

Check whether the volume mixer shows Firefox is muted, or is sending audio to a disconnected output device. I'm attaching a screenshot from Windows 11; I don't recall how similar Windows 10 was.

Thank you very much was so easy when you know how to do it. I opened firefox and the slider appeared and it was right at the bottom moving it back to the top

and I had sound.
