I have lost the history and organize bookmarks functions, how do I recover them?

After downloading/installing Firefox 4.0. The following conditions occurred: 1. ''Bookmarks'': no ability to organize bookmarks using ''Show All Bookmarks'' function in toolbar. Window opens to ''Library'' only 3 bookmarks show in the window pane displaying name, tag and location. The view & organize functions don't work. 2. History: Clicking on ''History '' the list of recent sites drops down. ''Recently Closed Tabs'' is the only part of the drop down menu that appears. ''Restore Previous Session'' doesn't appear nor does ''Recently Closed Windows''. Clicking on "Show All History" the "Library" for the Bookmarks appears with no History.
