After updating, Firefox always opens on an unwanted new empty tab, and only when no other tabs are open except pinned tabs.

After reinstalling Firefox due to it being slow, no matter what settings, Firefox always opens and focuses on a new unwanted tab. But only if there are no extra tabs open except for my 5 pinned ones. This behaviour started before I installed any Extensions. How can I stop this?
