Please restore that useful counter which showed the progress of an action when moving a number of emails from one folder to another
Thunderbird used to have a small counter which showed the progress of moving emails from one folder to another. Really useful when moving emails into local folders. Could you please restore this in an update -- or is there an add-on?

If the menu is not visible and you're using Windows, press the <alt> key to see the menu. You can also use the ≡ menu at top right.
That's not it, I'm afraid.
Where did that counter appear?
across the bottom bar of the Thunderbird window I think -- because it is not there now I cannot locate it -- but it was certainly at the bottom somewhere

But it wasn’t the status bar that I mentioned in my first message? That is the bar across the bottom of the window.
Yes, it probably was the status bar. I have just tried to replicate this -- and I copied a largish number of messages from local folders to an imap folder (deleted) and saw that they were counted as they transferred... but when I move a large number of files the other way there is no counter in the statuis bar, which used to happen.
The counter appears in my system when I copy in each direction.
I don't know what could suppress the message in one direction or not the other. You could try running Thunderbird in troubleshooting mode and see if the problem persists. Under the "Help" menu. If the problem does not persist in troubleshooting mode, we could identify some possible causes of it.
I did exactly as you said. Started Thunderbird in Troubleshooting mode; Copying 313 messages from local folders counts them down in the same way that they used to be counted. Copying the messages back to local folders shows nothing until the transfer is completed, whern it says 313 messages were moved or transferred.
I have no more ideas. What version of Thunderbird are you using?
Maybe someone else can help.

I would not be surprised if that version introduced new problems. I'm waiting a while before I upgrade.
Windows 11
it was there before the update
