Hi How did you update, via a command Apt-Get or a new install ?
If a new install it is likely an overwrite of the memory
Which Linux do you use, Ubuntu, Debian etc.
Hello and thank you for your reply. I had just done a standard update using the Linux Mint update manager which installed the latest version of Firefox along with numerous other updates. When I started Firefox for the first time following this update it appeared as a brand new install. -none of my previous settings were imported, no bookmarks, and no passwords. I tried going back to an earlier OS date using timeshift but Firefox still had the same missing information problem. After reading the help information at Mozilla I looked for the profile file. The file and the backup file had been deleted everywhere on the drive. I solved the problem relatively well by syncing the Linux Firefox with the Firefox browser on my iPad. It worked fine and resolved my problem. I just finished solving another problem caused by the same update- it altered some of the settings in the Libre office suite as well. Lastly I made sure that Firefox was backing up my new user profile. Again my thanks to everyone for posting helpful solutions and suggestions for fixing this problem. Sincerely, DN
