Firefox not working with Apple OS Tahoe 26.2
I just bought my boyfriend a new iMac. We are having trouble loading many sites and platforms using the latest Firefox browser. The list is growing but includes Facebook, Meetup, Wikipedia, chess.com, nytimes.com - in all cases, rather than a login screen, we get an error message or a home page loads with no access to other pages or login area. I've cleared the cache, restarted, tried going directly to the site to log in, but nothing works. Everything is fine when using Chrome, but we prefer Firefox. Is this a conflict in the new Apple OS? Is there a fix?

Hi Joan
What is the error message that you are getting?
Hi Paul - Facebook: Loads the below message. "This page isn't available right now. This may be because of a technical error that we're working to get fixed. Try reloading the page" Clicking reload, chnges page to FB logo. After 3 mins, it sometimes loads a home screen which does not allow clicking into any field. All works fine in Chrome. Meetup: "Application error: a client side exception has occurred (see the browser console for more information)" screen is otherwise blank All works fine in Chrome. YouTube: loads a screen of grey silhouetted boxes where videos would be, nothing else on screen All works fine in Chrome. NY Times: Loads a non-subscriber home page with no log in button. Going to the NYT log in link page, and clicking has no response. All works fine in Chrome. dropbox.com: Home page displays with log in window, page goes blank when clicking log in button. All works fine in Chrome.
As mentioned, I have cleared the Firefox cache, restarted and no change. I've done that several times. Checked Firefox version, and it says up to date.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide. Joan
Alt+Command+I, click Console. Look for errors that might be relevant, and send them here.
Please ensure that there is no personal info.
Also, see if the problem reproduces in Private windows.
I also found this post, which says that adblockers may be the problem.
S - Problem still exists in a Private Window. I 'm not familiar with Alt+Command+I Since I'm on a Mac, I tried Opt+Command+l, and nothing happened at all. Should this sequence be used after an error occurs, on start up, or ??? Thanks for the help, hope I can get this sorted.
S - Thanks again, but this is an issue re: Apple's latest OS26.2 Tahoe and FF, not a Windows issue. Lots of reports about issues with Tahoe...I'll be checking with Apple today. I did try turning off Tracking Protection on few of the bad site, but they still don't load.

This kind of issues would normally sound like a Windows antivirus/malware protection, but I doubt you use similar kind of security software on a Mac. Maybe some VPN?
Has this changed with further updates?
You mentioned this was a fresh device, but have you added any privacy addons, like NOSCRIPT and similar, that impact the sites opened, and can interfere with their functionality?
Thanks for your response. No, no VPN or Privacy add-ons. We've given up and are using Chrome.
This is really puzzling. If you're ever in a mood for downloading a current version and trying if anything changed on the underlying system to improve the situation, it would be great to hear back — in case there is a broader compatibility issue to look into.
I can only wonder whether this can be impacted by e.g. your router, or its security features; or perhaps your ISP limiting some protocols. (There's a few things to try disabling for test in about:config like network.http.http3.enable or lowering security.tls.version.max but in general there should be nothing on the line to be tripping up over these — unless you're running some security solution as SentinelOne, Sophos, CrowdStrike or similar…)
It would be interesting to see if you have a mobile hotspot to try connecting to as a test to get the link outside via tethering to cell data avoiding the existing connection for a bit.
Would you try changing some of the settings in Configure DNS over HTTPS protection levels in Firefox — e.g. if it's disabled try enabling it for a while or vice versa, if it's enabled change the provider selected or the protection level.
I'm not sure if it was asked before — does the same exhibit if you try opening the affected sites in a new Private Window tabs to compare?
