Recently, whenever i have to quit firefox, my tabs have all disappeared upon opening. I have tried all the suggestions in the Mozilla help and nothing seems to work. This used to happen from time to time which was frustrating but now it happens every time I need to quit firefox. "Recently closed tabs" and "recently closed windows" are greyed out when I try to use that. and there is nothing in "restore previous history". Thank you for your help.

  1. But you can undo close tabs during browsing?
  2. Go to ≡ -> Settings -> Privacy & Security -> History. Is there selected Firefox will: Use custom settings for history?

yes, use custom settings for history is selected.

OK. Do you see Clear history when Firefox closes option? It should be unselected if you want to keep your session after restart.

No, clear history is not selected. However, whenever I quit firefox I'm asked if I want to "close xx tabs"? and doesn't give me an option to say no. My only option is to "cancel" or "close tabs"

That question doesn't matter in this issue. It must be something else.

Also go to about:config and check the following preferences:

  • browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo
  • browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo

I think this step is over my head. I am noticing that for now, the tabs are staying open when I quit. Not sure why, but maybe i will see how it goes for the next few days and contact you again if I'm having problems. Thank you for your help. Karen
