I keep experiencing this problem with different websites: Safari works, Firefox doesn't.

Sample: I turned out the enhanced tracking protection, Privacy is set to Standard for

https://search.ccb.state.or.us/search/default.aspx

I entered valid license numbers (230880, 239798). Firefox displays NOTHING, no error message. Safari displays the relevant info.

Why is this and what should I do if I want to continue using Firefox? Thanks.

Show us what you're getting. It works for me. see screenshot What OS? What version of Firefox? Do you have the same issue with Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode#w_how-to-start-firefox-in-4troubleshoot-modesf5safe-modesf

Thanks for trying to help. There is nothing I can show because zero happens when I enter a legitimate license number. The OS is Sonoma 14.5. Firefox is 131.0.2. I am sorry, but I am not a technical person and based on similar exercises in the past I just wasted time trying to do things that I don't understand and didn't help.

Since it works for you (thanks for trying it), I will use Safari.

Sue, I am trying your procedure here from the Southeast U.S., connected via Google Fiber. I have noticed that the Windows Web Server is responding slowly to many requests. I don't believe the problem is Firefox.

Thanks but sorry, I do not understand. Nothing times out, there is no error message when using Firefox. At the very same time, Safari displays the correct answer instantly.

What if you turn this off? see screenshot

Thanks. As I mentioned in my first post: "I turned off the Enhanced Tracking Protection and Privacy is set to Standard". So I already did that.

It happened with other websites too in similar ways, while Safari has no issues.

It seems that websites that use Captcha verification fail when using them with Firefox. This might be one of the reasons why some websites do not work with Firefox.

Does anyone know if that's a reported , outstanding bug?

I should have explained that all logins for websites that require Captcha fail as the captcha is required to be passed prior to logging in, but the captcha never appears and so when I try to log in, nothing happens and I cannot login. I have tried the above same sites with Safari and have no such issue, the captcha shows and I can login.

I have also seen this reported by many. Any reason Firefox cannot fix it?

I can't reproduce this issue, but this info about captcha may be relevant. It looks like something is filtering your network traffic. It may be an addon, security software or a proxy. As a first step, go to your connection settings and switch to No proxy.

Thanks. I will try next time when I run into the Captcha issue, which I said is mentioned in many places...

Sorry tydraniu, I did what you suggested but didn't make any difference.

Another website where the same issue happens is https://learn.j2consultants.com/signup which provides a form. When I do SUBMIT nothing happens with Firefox, just sits there. With Safari it brings up Captcha and once I go trough that the form was submitted.

Firefox developer staff is to the best of my knowledge paid staff. They should be the ones debugging and fixing problems.

Try Safe mode in Firefox and return with feedback.

  1. Visit about:support;
  2. Click Safe mode.

Thanks and sorry, PavelkoT, this was already on the table. Not your fault or anyone's fault on this forum.

I guess free means "you get what you pay for" with Mozilla putting the monkey on the end users' back. Some of you might find it exiting to debug. I do not have the knowledge, the time, the ambition to debug. I am just a plain, old end user who wants reliable, easy to use software. Less features, but a reliable browser would be a lot more valuable to most users. Very frustrating.

Take a look. All our lifes we repair many items. Why? Because we has instruments. Reliable does not mean "breaks never'. Items can be dropped, they get a damage. Also storm, rain, freezing, snow and etc. But you repaired. We wash dishes, clean house, rooms, items and many other things we do. That all are repair.

Safe mode is not feature to be worry. It's tempopar way to complete your task in browser with some other specials. You will be bringed back to your typical browser user experience.

Thanks for trying to help.

See some of the reports on the web with similar experiences. Some state that trying to use safe mode doesn't change anything.

I am sure that this problem has been reported to Mozilla, it is mentioned in too many places. It is up to the developers to fix it.

reCAPTCHA issues can easily be something on Google's end as that was indeed the case back in early May when Firefox users with a Windows UserAgent could not use reCAPTCHA though those with a macOS and Linux Firefox UA could. In this case the Firefox version did not matter. One of many examples in this case /questions/1446332#answer-1650833
