I've added https://x.com as an exception site but it is still blocked.

This is outright censorship which is something [edited] do.

Tell me how to fix your browser so I may access x.com again or I stop using Firefox forever.

Hi.

Just a quick note to mention that the problems earlier today with viewing X/Twitter in Firefox do now appear to be resolved.

If you turned it off or down earlier, feel free to turn Enhance Tracking Protection back up to Strict if you prefer the web that way.

thank you for your fast reply despite my being so cranky. unfortunately, i'm still blocked even with protection disabled for x.com. i've restarted the browser as well as the laptop, but still blocked.

You can try these steps in case of issues with webpages:

You can reload webpage(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Settings), click the padlock icon (Clear cookies and site data) for the domain in the selected tab.

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> [X] Cached Web Content -> Clear

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the Default System theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

You can check for issues with Enhanced Tracking Protection. Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content.

  • click the shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection

You can check the Web Console for relevant-looking messages like blocked content.

i had to go to open in troubleshoot mode to get it to work, however, that completely wrecked how i had firefox set up for myself. wiped out all extensions. lost the tabs i have open each time i open firefox. lost the sessions i had on those tabs. thanks for making this problem take hours to resolve and get back to my normal browsing.

this rollout of your tracking feature is a sad sad sad reflection on mozilla. it shouldn't have come to this.

Same issue. Its awful.

If I reboot, then I have to go back into trouble shoot mode. For someone dedicated to this browser over a decade, this sucks

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin), always make sure such extensions do not block content.

I cannot access Twitter/X at all now using Firefox 126.0.1 (64-bit). I have tried all privacy settings (Standard, Strict, Custom), used Custom with everything disabled, added twitter.com and x.com to the exceptions, clear cookies and cached data, closed the browser, disabled ad blocker, etc.

This is ridiculous!

Can you access a direct link to a user page such as

https://x.com/mozilla

(That loads for me with full tracking protection applied, signed out. Have not tested signed in recently.)

If you don't get to the page, what leads does Firefox give you? For example, does the site display an error message, or does Firefox display an error message, or does it time out, etc.

Note: Older links to Twitter URLs get redirected to X URLs, so you might need to update your bookmarks if that redirect is failing.

this is somewhat fixed. anytime my laptop reboots, however, usually due to Windows updates, then I cannot access x.com for up to about 5 days. then, without doing anything, it finally lets me get in. since Windows seems to come up with updates almost every week, i spend most of my time with this problem until it just goes away until the next reboot.

Recent Firefox updates have crippled x.com. Why don't you just admit you are a [edited] bent on blocking x.com come hell or high water?

It is up to X/Twitter to decide whether to continue storing its data on servers that are part of the Disconnect list used by Firefox and a lot of content blocking extensions.

You can check the Network Monitor to see if content is blocked or otherwise fails to load.

If necessary use "Ctrl+F5" or "Ctrl+Shift+R" (Mac: Command+Shift+R) to reload the page and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.

You can click the shield icon in the address bar for more detail and possibly disable the protection

what a lazy [edited] answer

but playing along with your stupid games to hide your [edited] , i click your network monitor link and apparently you can't make it work with windows, only a MAC:

"There are a few different ways to open the Network Monitor:

   Press Ctrl + Shift + E (Cmd + Opt + E on a Mac)."

What you are completely ignoring is that your enhanced tracking protection totally ignores if i want to set up an exception for an URL. BECAUSE YOU DON"T WANT FIREFOX USERS TO ACCESS x.com

If you want to get help here, please watch your language as this is a (family) support forum.

Mozilla wants people to be able access x.com/twitter.com in Firefox as Mozilla even has twitter accounts (like @firefox, @mozilla) along with some of the Mozilla employees. Also you are not talking directly with Mozilla staff here.

I don't think you replied to my previous questions:

On my end, I haven't noticed any problems navigating X, signing in, switching views, or seeing user profiles.

Firefox 128 isn't showing anything blocked on the Tracking Protection drop-down. I don't post. I don't use any add-ons specific to Twitter/X. I think the only unusual thing about my configuration is that I block scripts from the "ads-twitter.com" domain (using NoScript).

If you still experience issue with X/Twitter and you have Disconnect addon installed, you may want to disable it to fix this issue. See: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1e5qezp/twitter_is_not_letting_me_in_and_the_known/

I'm going to lock this thread as the discussion is getting out of hand. Please open a new thread if my suggestion doesn't fix your issue.
