home button works on open tab, however I also get a new blank tab. I want do not want the additional tab.

That means your settings has a extra tab set in the settings. You need to go look at your settings what the homepage settings are.

Thanks, I ended up doing a restore default setting for home page and then reset the URL. Works properly now. You sent me in the right direction.
