Firefox won't start after fresh re-install

Problem = "Firefox is already running but is not responding" error. Firefox does not open a browser window. I uninstalled firefox, deleted the necessary files in the registry and deleted / backed-up all my profiles. Still doesn't open. I cannot terminate the firefox.exe in the taskmanager.
