Why is my homepage tab (symbaloo) also going to the link I click, leaving me with two identical tabs and no homepage ?

I have my homepage set for symbaloo where I have links to all of my most visited websites. Every time I clicked a link a new tab would open but my symbaloo page would remain intact. Recently, however, the new tab opens but my symbaloo page also goes to the link I clicked leaving me with two identical webpages. I have always kept the symbaloo tab open when I'm browsing so its frustrating it has decided to start doing this. Thanks.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Does it make a difference whether you have the symbaloo tab pinned?

Interesting. I'm not an intensive computer user so never knew I could pin a tab. Thanks for that. Nonetheless, I tried the safe mode thing first and it made no difference. When I tried it from the pinned tab the Symbaloo page remained intact (yay !) but TWO identical tabs open up ??? I guess it may be Symbaloo that is the problem and not Firefox but your advice has helped me move forward a little in solving the problem. Cheers.
