Why aren't the IMAP folder subscriptions used for the folder view in 38.6?
Having selected a number of IMAP folders in the settings I then find that every folder is displayed in the folder view!! Surely if I have chosen folders to display for the IMAP account, that selection should be used for the folder view?

It is if your settings are correct. Right click the account in the folder pane and select settings in server setting select the advanced button and select show only subscribed folders.
I have done that and all folders are still appearing - on both Ubuntu & Windows :-( The behaviour has only just changed.
