Firefox unresponsive

Firefox opens, but after a few seconds will be completely unresponsive. I was able to get into the health report but as soon as it opened it went unresponsive again. I have uninstalled the program, deleted the folder location and reinstalled with no change. I see that two different versions of Adobe Flash player start when I open Firefox. I was able to get one of them disabled in the add ins section but it doesnt seem to have changed anything. I had been having problems with graphics within Firefox for the past few days as well. some pictures would become digitized squares. I did a 'refresh' install and it seems to have made things worse.

Could you try starting up in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions, hardware acceleration, and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any less crashy?
