exported books from desktop firefox and desire to import them to my new dell laptop

ppazin

Exported my Firefox bookmarks from my HP DESKTOP to a flash drive and now need to import them to a new Dell laptop. Installed Firefox on my Laptop and it had a statement that stated import bookmarks. Tried it but didn't work. Both systems are Windows 11. was not logged into Mozilla when it was performed. Plan to use Dell laptop as backup to my desktop computer.

Strange. Could you log in to your Mozilla account and try again?

I suppose that you export the bookmarks as a html file. Right? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer

Could you please try to open the html file from your new Dell laptop using Firefox? If yes, you can copy the html file to your laptop's desktop and try to import to Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-html-file

NO, STILL THE SAME THING. USED THE HTML BOOKMARK FILE THAT WAS ON THE DELL LAPTOP DESKTOP, SELECTED IT AS THE FILE, AND SELECTED "OPEN" AND IT STATED COPIED 827 BOOKMARKS BUT NOTHING SHOWED IN FIREFOX. NOTICED THAT IN THE UPPER RIGHT IT STATED THAT SETUP NOT COMPLETED?

HAVE TRIED IT MULTIPLE TIMES WITH THE SAME RESULT. FOUND OUT THAT MY HP COMPUTER FIREFOX WAS INSTALLED WHEN IT HAD WINDOWS 10 ON IT AND THEN MICROSOFT CAME OUT WITH WINDOWS 11 AND THEY PROVIDED A FREE UPDATE ON MY HP COMPUTER. THEREFORE, MY HP COMPUTER PRESENTLY HAS WINDOWS 11 AND FIREFOX IS STILL WINDOWS 10. MY NEW DELL LAPTOP CAME WITH WINDOWS 11 AND I INSTALLED FIREFOX ON IT. ON THE UPPER LEFT OF THE FIREFOX DISPLAY IT HAS AN ARROW POINTING TO RESTORE BOOKMARKS. AFTER CLICKING ON THAT I SELECT THE BOOKMARK HMLT FILE THAT I PLACED ON THE LAPTOP DESKTOP. THEN I SELECTED OPEN AND IT STATES THAT 827 BOOKMARKS RESTORED AND STATES DONE. BUT NONE APPEAR ON THE DISPLAY WHEN I LAUNCH FIREFOX. IN THE UPPER RIGHT SIDE ON FIREFOX I SELECTED SETUP AND DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW SINCE NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

Can you open your full Bookmark Library (from menu "Manage Bookmarks", or Ctrl + Shift + O keys), and check the import is not there already, just waiting for you to organize where it should go?

Could you elaborate which process you're using, e.g. Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer or Import Bookmarks from an HTML file?

(Note the "The bookmarks in the selected HTML file will be added to your Firefox bookmarks within the Bookmarks Menu directory." remark in the guide — have you looked inside this folder?)
