The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed! Help please.

I can't load any flash content within Firefox. I instantly get the following error: "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed. Reload the page to try again.". So far I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash, restarted my computer, and disabled hardware acceleration all to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Chosen solution

This is some standard guidance that addresses the most common reasons for Flash problems in Firefox. I'm sure you've seen some of it before, but just in case:

(1) Make sure all recorders/downloaders that interact with Flash media are as up-to-date as possible, or disable them. These could be add-ons or they could be external software.

(2) Disable hardware graphics acceleration in Firefox and in Flash

(A) In Firefox, un-check the box here and restart:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"

(B) In Flash, see this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues

(3) Disable protected mode (Windows Vista/7/8)

Hi jscher, Yes, I've seen this info posted already (I think actually by you haha) but none of these seem to be my problem. I did update my intel integrated grahpics yesterday but flash is still working fine in IE10. Anything you else think I could try? Thanks

Ok, so scratch my last response. Disabling hardware acceleration through Firefox (orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available" ) did not work however step 3B did. Following your link, right clicking on the Flash logo and disabling hardware acceleration there has fixed my issue. Thanks!

If you have completed those steps and you get new crashes afterwards, please post the crash IDs here so a volunteer can view the details. This article describes how to get those IDs: Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly).

Edit: Our posts crossed, so no need to post IDs unless it happens again.
