i cant view youtube videos but i can view it on chrome and ie and flash wont update

i cant view youtube videos but i can view it on chrome and ie and flash wont update either i always click update now and download it and it says update conplete but then i check the plugin updates and still says flash has to be updated. i run firefox in safe mode and i still cant view videos and i tried reading forums and did suggestions like clearing cookies and such but no luck. another thing is i get a weird screen when i try to play the videos

There are some compatibility issues between the latest Flash player and some Firefox add-ons or settings. Could you see whether anything in this article helps: Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox.

You might also consider disabling the new protected mode in Flash 11.3, since that feature is currently being debugged. See this support article from Adobe under the heading "Last Resort": Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?

Regarding the update, what Adobe usually gives you is just a little installer program that you run which downloads the actual plugin. I recommend having Firefox closed while doing the Adobe update so that no files are skipped in the process.

At least one user noticed an issue where Adobe installed two versions of Flash side-by-side; the older one needed to be deleted manually. See flash works fine in firefox 14 but i can't update it.

thank you for the help disabling the protected mode helped me and now i can play youtube videos again
