Firefox on MacOS in full screen mode makes the black offset between the screen edge and the Firefox window after logging in after MacOS is locked. It fixes itself when you exit the full screen and enter it again.

How to reproduce?

  • Open Firefox and enter the full screen mode
  • Close your MacBook and wait until it prompts you for your password or touch id
  • The Firefox window has black offset between screen edge and the Firefox window, that was not present before
  • Exit the full screen and get into it again, and the offset is gone

Hi, I recently had an office location change and post that in my office laptop, Thunderbird cannot authenticate with outlook and collect mails from it. IT team tried syncing the password from their end, and we tried a million other things like checking server settings in Thunderbird etc, but nothing is working. It just says "connecting to outlook.office365.com...." and is stuck there.

Yesterday (5/19), I noticed that Firefox wouldn't load certain websites - specifically, Facebook and my credit union after I tried to login, as well as some commercial websites I use for work, such as Claude.ai. YouTube videos did not play well either - they started buffering after a minute or two. I also noticed that when I was logged into my Google Workspace, apps like Drive and the Calendar had to be refreshed multiple times to get them to fully load - and even then, sometimes that didn't work. Yet other sites would load and function just fine.

After working with Microsoft support yesterday to determine if it was a Windows problem (it doesn't appear to be), I started checking to see if it was a browser issue, especially since I can access everything I need to just fine on Microsoft Edge. I have tried clearing my cache, refreshing Firefox, reinstalling Firefox, and completing a full virus scan on my PC (no issues detected), but nothing has worked and the same problems continue.

Any ideas? (Please note that I have limited tech troubleshooting skills. I am an ordinary user, not a developer.)

Many thanks.

I have been using Firefox for many years now and I have always been greatly satisfied with its stability, performance and features. However with the last couple of releases something has changed. The number of tabs I keep open and what they are connected to have changed very little over the years. The CPU utilization has never been much but now it has become huge - utilizing multiple CPU cores and running them at 100% whether I am using the browser or not. I have gone thru each individual tab/web page removing it, waiting for a period of time and them re-adding it assuming this was a website coding issue. Nothing changed. So I gave up and move 98% of my web browsing to another browser (Opera) - moving one website at a time until what was left on Firefox was 11 tabs. Finally the CPU utilization went away. I got the latest Firefox version update today, installed it and now Firefox has changed behavior yet again. Those same 11 tabs will not use any CPU as long as I keep Firefox open and visible on screen, but if I minimize the Firefox window it immediately jumps up in CPU utilization. This makes no sense to me.

What adds to all this frustration is I am running on a system76 Thelio desktop. While extremely fast they have a known issue with their somewhat loud CPU cooling fan kicking in too fast when high CPU utilization occurs. Firefox never used to cause the fans to run but now the latest couple of versions cause the fan to run continuously.

Here is a paste from "top" showing the top 2 cpu processes - both from Firefox and the browser is minimized:

My apologies if I have run on with too much info that is of no help. If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated and I would be happy to test. FYI, my OS is up to date, Firefox is up to date, BIOS is up to date, I have restarted Firefox many times and I have rebooted several times. I thought Mint might be the issue so I loaded Pop-Os and tried it with the same results. Btw neither Opera or Brave shows the problem. However I would prefer to use Firefox as I really like the features - especially how it handles tabs and grouping them.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I need to print a pop up but Firefox will not allow the pop up. I read all of the instructions, including going to Privacy and Settings, but that tab does not exist. I can access it under the Browsing tab. I also read there are advanced setting by entering about:config in the address bar, this doesn’t work either. Im running latest IOS and have talked to Apple about it and they have concluded it is a browser issue. Please advise. Steve

Recently Firefox has been hanging up more than usual, I did a double check on all drivers, updates, and virus protection. Normally things work fine but through the day I'll get the "Gah this tab has crashed. " Or the window will freeze and hitch up, sometimes having to be completely closed with task manager. Just wondering if this is something to do with firefox as a whole, my add-ons, or something I can fix with an easy reinstall.

Hi there, I am facing a problem in some website while using Firefox Beta. When I allow access to my camera and microphone, then granting permission dialog box is shown again and again no matter how much I click in "Continue ".

In other browsers there is an option to always allow the full access to the microphone and camera so in those cases the problem won't happen. Can we adjust Firefox Beta so that it can allow a website to always access microphone and webcam without asking? Thank you in advance

Running FF115.23.1ESR on a Win7/32 box I use in network maintenance/configuration.

If I log into the modem main page and select from the side-bar menu, FF drops me back to the modem's login screen (Groundhog Day style). This behaviour is repeatable (endlessly) on:

  • * another identical modem (same/latest firmware). These have repeatedly been factory reset and firmware reloaded. No change.
  • * another Win7 box (/64) on same FF release.

Opera - reluctantly added on those same Win7 boxes - does not have this (mis-)behaviour.

Win10/64 running FF138.0.4 does not have this issue.

Up until about ten weeks back, the (then-current) Win7/X esr release did NOT have this problem.

Yes, I HAVE cleared cache/cookies repeatedly before sessions, to no avail. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> [EDIT:] The on-line modem/router emulator can be accessed at https://support.netcommwireless.com/e.../login.html The default un/pswd is admin/admin. Once in the main page, select "Advanced" from the left menu list. This (in the emulator) opens the Advanced page, as it should. In a normal situation here, it simply reverts to the login page.

Q1: Anyone have any experience like this, or any clues/suggestions?

Q2: To continue using these Win7 boxes in that role, am I forced to abandon FF?

Using Google Voice became unusable. Firefox too slow. Had been running just fine up till maybe a month ago when I finally gave in and allowed Firefox to update. Not knowing if it was a Windows or other issue I stupidly did a Windows reset and lost all my installed programs (including Firefox). I did a fresh install of Firefox and manually reentered passwords and bookmarks.

Ran fine for a day or two and is now again unusable. Cleared cache and appears to work OK at the moment but still sluggish.

This is not an error, but it may be useful for some users of the Mac version of Firefox to know.

I have several tabs pinned to the left side of the tab bar (just the icons). Some of them I intend to use as "model" tabs to be duplicated for a session and the duplicate then deleted (such as bank logins).

I have found that, if I left-click to select a pinned tab and THEN right click and select Duplicate Tab, the duplicate appears immediately to the right of the pinned tabs, and to the left of any open non-pinned tabs. But if I right-click the pinned tab WITHOUT first left-clicking it, it goes to the right of the LAST non-pinned tab on the right.

This does not cause any errors, but it may be useful for some people to know; they can control where they want the duplicate tab to appear when they create it!
