I can't open the links on some websites

I will click on a link on a page (I've checked multiple pages and it does this on tons of websites now) and instead of opening it in a separate window, it opens a chrome blank search page and never opens the link. This started last night after I got a weird error message while using Gmail saying something about it not being a trusted connection. It was in the middle of me just using my computer normally and not going to any weird sites. I ran a virus check and there's nothing. And now the only exception is when I try to open links on the 3 or 4 websites I use constantly but every new website does that weird chrome thing. I can't open links from my other browsers (Chrome and Explorer) either. I've now restarted my computer, cleared cookies and cache, and am on a different wifi connection, and removed my firewall protection. I don't have any idea what the problem is.
