is there any chance that you can recover my mails, after my harddrive broke down ?

Your POP account emails are stored only on your hard drive. You may find a local support shop that could recover the folders for you. For Windows, they would have been in the c:\users\<yourid>\appdata\roaming\thunderbird folder. Good luck.
