if I use firefox whine looking at something does the Von stop it from saving on my search history when I use mask mode

Private browsing/mask mode only stops Firefox from keeping that history on this device after you close the private windows. It does not stop Google from saving searches on Google’s side if you are signed in, or if Google can still identify the session with cookies/account activity.

If you do not want searches saved to a Google account, sign out first or pause/delete Google “Web & App Activity” in your Google account settings. A VPN can hide the sites from your ISP, but it does not make Google forget what you search while using Google.
