Lost my Passwords on my desktop and can't recover them through profile manager, I found them on my android phone and want to recover my passwords from there, but am worried if I try and sync to the desktop, the desktop might overwrite the passwords in the phone.

Back up the passwords from your Android phone first.

PHONE Then open Firefox-tap the three dot menu-go to settings->logins and passwords-select export passwords-select export passwords-authenticate with phone biometrics or PIN(it will ask you to do it)-save the exported CSV file (this is storing all your passwords in text).

PC On your desktop Mozilla Firefox-open the password manager: "about:logins" ,click the three dots menu (top right)-select Import from a file-choose the CSV file you exported from your phone-your passwords should now appear locally on the desktop.

SYNC After confirming the passwords exist → enable Sync Once you confirm the desktop now has the passwords->Go to Settings → Sync-sign in to your Firefox account-passwords must be enabled in the sync list-both devices should merge correctly.

cajones13, just mentioning this as an alternative to consider.

Sometimes missing passwords can be retrieved using the logins-backup.json file in the Profile folder on the hard drive. Although this would need to be attempted as soon as possible, in order to avoid any original passwords that are still in there being overwritten.

If you do not know where your Profile folder is, see here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data

To attempt password recovery:

  1. open your Profile folder on the hard drive
  2. fully exit Firefox if it is running
  3. move logins.json to a backup folder
  4. copy logins-backup.json to a backup folder
  5. in the profile folder, rename logins-backup.json to logins.json
  6. restart Firefox

If this doesn't work then you can always exit Firefox and then restore the original two files.

Thanks for the help. All good.
