Message box when I go into Thinderbird

When I go into Thunderbird I get a message from Thunderbird Software Updater saying 'Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?' What happens if I click on 'Yes'? Presumably it will just update Thunderbird and not the rest of my systems?
