New emails delete before I can open them. WHY?

During the past couple weeks, I have new emails that show up in my in box and then delete. However I can see I have them from my phone. (My phone is broke and I can't send or open emails) Why does this keep happening??

perhaps your phone is deleting them from the server... then that change is synchronized to Thunderbird.
