How do I add sites to the Blocked pop up list ?
I want to add more sites to the list of blocked sites so I don't get swamped by pop ups like I do now. How do I do this ?

Hello,
The pop-up blocker in Firefox is a global one. It should work on all popups. There is an exceptions list which you can use to individually exclude some site from the blocker so that those sites only can use popups.
If you are getting popups on sites that you have not added to the exceptions list then please see the help article here:
This gives instructions on troubleshooting and preventing unwanted popups.
I hope this helps. Let me know if not.
I have already gone through all the standard fixes to no avail. I have Avast, SpyBot search and Destroy and AdAware installed. None of these reprt any problems. As I have noted some site addresses I really want to add them to the FireFox list under Tools/Options. There is what appears to be a standard list in there. Can I add sites myself ?
Could you post a screenshot of what you mean? There is a list of Exceptions under Options > Content but I am not aware of a list of sites that will be blocked. In normal circumstances all sites are blocked unless you add them to the Exceptions list.
If you need help to create a screenshot, please see How do I create a screenshot of my problem?
Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the Browse... button below the Post your reply box.
I have attached a JPG file of the list of blocked sites. ( I couldn't find Paint ) I know about this list, I want to Add to the list, not make exceptions.
Thanks for posting the screenshot, that is very helpful.
The list in your screenshot is the Exceptions list. That is for managing the list of sites which will be allowed to have popups.
I have posted a screenshot below from my own Firefox. There are no sites in the exceptions list and I get no popups.
I suggest removing all the sites from the exceptions list. There is no need to have any sites in that list at all if you don't want any popups. Please try clicking the 'Remove all sites' button to empty the list and test again. Are you still getting lots of popups?
If you are could you let me know an example site where you are getting a popup and I will test on my end.
I don't have any sites listed in the exceptions page. I do not want any pop ups at all. Some of the sites that pop up are as follows : www.survey.com-ez.net : www.viewster.com : www.australia.consumers-research.com. These sites are the ones I have recorded for my ISP to look into. According to them they have no pop ups at all but the last one has their heading. I will be following this up with them tomorrow my time. Hopefully they may be able to offer a solution to that one if not the others.
Sorry if I wasn't clear but you do have sites listed in the popup exceptions page. The screenshot you posted is of the exceptions page.
You can see that the description at the top says: "You can specify which websites are allowed to open popups..."
Or are you saying that you have now cleared them?
Thanks for posting the links. Which sites are you surfing on when these popups appear?
From your description I think this is likely to be a malware issue. I know you said that you had done a scan with Avast, Spybot S&D and Adaware but it is possible that they missed something.
Please try the following:
- View your Firefox Add-ons and remove any that you didn't install yourself. It is possible that a rogue add-on is causing the problem.
- Look through your list of Windows installed programs and manually uninstall any that you think might be involved.
- View your Windows 7 startup programs in msconfig and disable any that you do not want starting on boot. Most adware will install itself to start on boot. You can stop that here.
Then try a couple of extra malware/virus scans. These are free and work alongside your existing anti-virus software:
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
Once all malware is removed you may still see popups until all modified Firefox settings have been fixed. The easiest way would be to do a Firefox Reset. This returns Firefox to its default settings. Your bookmarks, history etc will be saved but you will need to reinstall any add-ons.
Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings
I hope this helps. Let me know if not.

Hello Eddy. This seems to have solved the problem. Malware did find things other had missed. Hitman did not find any additional problems. I also discovered how to run MSCONFIG ! I found and removed to add ons that were installed without my knowing. The problems appear to be solved. Thanks for your help. This has saved me having format the C drive. Patrick.
