I run XP, last update gives XULRunner error ***** not compatible. Looked up help for this. Okay, what does the "installation program" look like?

I'm not an idiot but not a programmer either. I don't want to go deleting stuff that shouldn't be deleted. Help topic was useful but didn't go far enough to show me where to go, what to look for.

XULrunner is no longer supported, and neither is XP. You may be trying to do the impossible

Firefox was working yesterday, an update changed something and now I get that error. Surely there is a way to go back where it was yesterday?

The Firefox 52.7.4 ESR was more for Windows 10 users in mind though it should not be a issue in running it on WinXP.

Here is the Firefox 52.7.3 ESR (32-bit) for Windows. http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.7.3esr/win32/ http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.7.3esr/win32/en-US/

Also keep in mind that Firefox 52.9.0esr out on June 26 will be the last major update for the old 52 ESR branch as 60 ESR will be the current then. Firefox 53.0 and later as you may know does not run on the EOL WinXP and Vista.

This is a big step forward. Firefox works....except that it locks up when I try to go into options to block auto updater.

On April 30th Microsoft pushed out updates but no idea if it was the full range as Win 10 version 1803 was released. Firefox pushed out 59.03 and 52.7.4 on the 30th. https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

You can check for problems with preferences.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
