Many of the older messages still in my inbox seem to be corrupted somehow.

When I double click to open the message, it opens a different email showing on the html/jscript body of the other email. For example, links in the html/jscript are for different websites.

1. Could I have set an option or configured this incorrectly? 2. Is there a way to just recreate my inbox without downloading the whole mail userid content?

I'm running on Windows 11 and using the Thunderbird 103.0b1 (64-bit) release.

Any other ideas? Happy 4th to all the American users and developers! ++Mark. https://ctproduced.com

v91.7.0 on OS X 10.14.6 Used TB for many many years. Have a Charter IMAP email account set up. All of a sudden a good number of months ago, all my emails in my Inbox have a banner that says "This is a draft message" when just clicking on them in the email list.

Opening any of those mail (which for some reason always opens as Write: mode, whatever that is, not view or reply; not sure what's going on there either) will show a yellow banner at the bottom of the email with the following: "A unique identity matching the From address was not found. The message will be sent using the current From field and settings from identity <IDENTITY> <MY EMAIL>."

Any other folders, like Sent or Saved folders don't show or have this issue. I am not and don't use Unified View. I also have two GMail accounts and neither of them are doing that with their Inboxes.

EDIT: It displays some similarities as the bug here, but not all of them (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1508153). For example I don't get a double window.

I have never disliked an email program as much as I do Thunderbird!!! I thought Outlook was bad, grrr. Sorry for the rant.

Somehow today, my "send" tab in Thunderbird got reset to "send later". Not only will it not let me return to the 'send' default, copying the text of draft messages I created are all set for this too so won't let me copy and paste into a new message in Thunderbird and be able to send that! (I wish I could attach a screenshot of the tab but that function isn't available on the Thunderbird page either!)

So grateful if someone can tell me how to fix this.

(p.s. If Mozilla cares about its users as much as I've always thought it did, surely someone from the company can 'step in' and address the multitude of problems so many of us keep having without resolve? I still cannot open messages properly to read and reply after the last glitch. I'm almost ready to stop using Mozilla altogether ... and that's a BIG crossroads for me because I LOVE the Firefox browser! If anyone from Mozilla is reading this, PLEASE intervene!!! What a supreme waste of time this entire email program is!)

Nothing major to report, but when I now send a message to 2 or more people, I get the following warning message

"The message contains multiple recipients" it then tells me to use mail merge etc.

In all previous versions I never received this error message and I have looked for a way to turn it off because quite often I am emailing or replying to several people, and it is just one extra mouseclick I don't need.

It still if you press okay and don't follow the instructions but it is just a warning message that's not needed in my opinion and should be able to be turned off.

For years I have sent photographs from File Explorer by right clicking on the icon, selecting Sent to > Mail Recipient. For some reason it has suddenly stopped working and I get the error message "there is no email program associated to perform the requested action. " I have checked that Thunderbird is associated with my email, and done all the things suggested in various posts online, linking the file associations with Thunderbird and setting it as my default, but to no effect. I don't want to mess with the Registry. What other solutions are there? It's so annoying - it's a really useful facility and to suddenly lose it is most irritating.

I AM WITHDRAWING THIS QUESTION, AS I THINK I DISCOVERED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO NEW MONITORING FEATURES I ACTIVATED IN MALWAREBYTES. I TURNED THEM OFF AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING FINE NOW.

I believe there was an automatic update to Thunderbird a few days ago, and it looked like an error message popped up, but the message disappeared before I could read it. Ever since then, it's been taking forever to launch. Then when it finally does launch, I initially have a lot of lagging, delays, not responding messages, and even message windows closing while I'm in the middle of typing. It seems to "warm up" after a while and work as before.

Any ideas what might be causing this and how to fix it? I'm on Windows 11.

Thank you!

Good day, I am using Thunderbird with my Office 365 e-mail account. I like pretty much the appearance of Thunderbird, as it is not so crowded as Outlook. Unfortunately very frequently it is "Not responding" and the screen freeze for few seconds. Should wait untill returns to normal condition itself, to continue my job. I did not found any topics into help about that problem and any solutions. With Outlook I do not have the problem described above, but prefer to use Thunderbird. Kindly ask you for any advices, if available. Many thanks in advance!

I am trying to insert an image file into a signature but it appears as a blank box in messages.

I've looked at a number of responses to people with similar problems, and I've tried the File > New Message route but no luck.

The image file is stored locally, I have tried writing the signature text as HTML and inserting the code, and have also created an HTML file and tried that way. When that file opens in a browser, the graphic appears perfectly.

When I double click on an email it is not opening the email in a new tab but instead in a reply window.

Windows 11 Home, 64-Bit vsn 21H2, OS Build : 22000.778 Thunderbird 102.0.1 (64-Bit)

We have 2 users on the PC - one user works OK and the other user has the problem.

Double clicking an email in all folders except the InBox works OK - it opens in a new tab. It is only the InBox that has the problem.

Under settings (Reading & Display) the "Open Messages in a new tab" is set

I've tried changing the mail.openMessageBehaviour settings but it has no effect

In the Account Settings (Copies & Folders) I've tried changing all the locations from "Local Folders" (default) to "Other" and then selecting the relevant folder.

What else should I try?

Many thanks, Dave

Hello-

I recently updated Thunderbird and now I am getting the error message, "Unable to write email to mailbox...". On top of that, when I click the OK button the error window doesn't go away and will not let me use any part of Thunderbird. I have to use Task Manager to close down TB.
I suspect it is the new update 102.0.1. How can I go back to the last one, 91.10.0 where everything worked?

Thanks, Bob

windows 10 hotspot makes thunderbird and firefox freeze. Other programs continue to work as normal. I can kill firefox and thunderbird via task manager but the apps remain froze when starting back up. Need to reboot the PC and keep mobile hotspot off. Then all is well. Appears to be a bug. Microsoft just says stop using firefox. Have not yet tried that rather draconian option. They would probably advise the same if I reported it with thunderbird Please help if you can. I can use these programs on my pc without turning on mobile hotspot but it would be more convenient not to have to do so. Thanks John Verburg

Using TB v91.5.1 on Windows 10 x-64. I have several mail accounts, one of which is for a hotmail.com address. This has been working fine for years, but over the past couple of days, I don't seem to be able to send emails form this account. I can receive them fine, but when I try to send, I get the small pop-up telling me it's sending the message, and the progress bar is at 100%, but it doesn't send the message, it just sits there.

I looked in the error console, but nothing was added when I tried sending.

You can see my server settings for the account in the attached image.

Any ideas? Please let me know if there is any other info you need.

Thanks

Hi Folks,

Never had an issue like this before.

I have two email accounts, one that comes with my ISP, and a gmail account.

Suddenly, the ISP account (myfairpoint.net) started showing me the list of emails in the folder, but wouldn't display any content when the email is clicked on (I use a horizontal three-pane setup; folder directory on left, directory content in the middle, and the selected email in the right.)

Initially, the middle-pane (directory content) showed a list of emails, but wouldn't show what was in them, not in the right pane, nor in a separate tab. Opened 'Properties' on the "inbox" folder, and tried the 'repair folder' option... now the only thing showing is the directory tree; the directory content pane is empty.

The Gmail account is working fine, no problems there.

Any ideas on how to get the other account back up again? Without deleting the account and then re-installing it, that is? I'd rather not do that unless there's no other way, as this account is always a nightmare to get set up properly... haven't managed to do it yet without calling my ISP tech support.

Much appreciated!
