Using Thunderbird with Office 365 account

more options

Good day, I am using Thunderbird with my Office 365 e-mail account. I like pretty much the appearance of Thunderbird, as it is not so crowded as Outlook. Unfortunately very frequently it is "Not responding" and the screen freeze for few seconds. Should wait untill returns to normal condition itself, to continue my job. I did not found any topics into help about that problem and any solutions. With Outlook I do not have the problem described above, but prefer to use Thunderbird. Kindly ask you for any advices, if available. Many thanks in advance!

This can happen if the antivirus app is scanning the TB profile folder. The profile folder should be added as an exclusion or exception in AV settings, even if the app is Windows Security. There could be other causes, and it's helpful to run Windows in safe mode to test the effects of startup apps like AV, online backup.

Many thanks! So far adding TB profile folder as an exclusion in Windows Security settings solved the problem, as today I did not have "Not responding" even once.

Do you still using thunderbird now? May I know if you ever migrate thunderbird email/folder to outlook?

I uses TB for 10 years and happy with that, but recently my domain, GoDaddy.com, they don't support any other email client and only use Outlook 365. Suddenly i cannot access my TB because it said authentication fail. So i need to migrate all my old emails and folders from TB to outlook 365. Do you know how to do that? There are some software bridge for that offered in internet but I'm worry if that is scam only.

Thank you.

Good day! As I know TB is only e-mail client (program for working with e-mail server, as I can say). Also all platforms should have web version for access. If authentication fails… for me it looks your e-mail server not working or password is incorrect. I am using Thunderbird for my office365 account and have web access via office.com. So, I am not expert, but I guess the problem is not with Thunderbird, but with the server. Pls do not hesitate to ask further questions, if I could help you!
