For years I have sent photographs from File Explorer by right clicking on the icon, selecting Sent to > Mail Recipient. For some reason it has suddenly stopped working and I get the error message "there is no email program associated to perform the requested action. " I have checked that Thunderbird is associated with my email, and done all the things suggested in various posts online, linking the file associations with Thunderbird and setting it as my default, but to no effect. I don't want to mess with the Registry. What other solutions are there? It's so annoying - it's a really useful facility and to suddenly lose it is most irritating.

Chosen solution

Thanks for your reply. I have now solved the problem, by uninstalling my version of Thunderbird which was quite old, and installing the latest version. All is sweetness and light again. But I will bear in mind your solution if it ever happens again.

Assuming you have TB as your default client, I suggest using the Default Apps module in Windows and search for the Mailto default, which may not be properly set up. This is a Windows issue.
