Thunderbird runs, but will not open a window

more options

After years using Thunderbird, although it opens, suddenly it will not load a window. When I start TB, an icon appears in the toolbar. If I hover over the icon, a small image of my inbox shows, but no matter what I try, I cannot get it to enlarge to fill the screen. I have tried an update, but without success. All my other programs are working normally. Any ideas?

Chosen solution

Have you used a second monitor recently? If so, the TB window may simply be positioned on that second monitor (although not present).

To reposition the window back into the visible area (on Windows 10), simply right click the taskbar and select Cascade windows. Another option is to go to display settings and redetect displays to force Windows to forget the disconnected monitor. Third option would be to go into Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), find Thunderbird.exe in the processes tab, right-click it and to select maximize.

Please advise if this helped to solve the issue.

Thank you. I had my second monitor switched off. Ah well, put it down to experience / age!
