Optimizing video quality in ted.com
When I want to watch any Ted video, the video hangs at the message "Optimizing video quality". It doesn't even start. This happens only in Windows7, it works fine in Mac. Also, I opened the same site in IE in Windows7 and the video plays.

Hi,
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:
- Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
- Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
- Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
- From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
- Now click the Clear now button.
Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
I have tried both the steps above: 1) Clearing the cookies and deleting everything, 2) Starting the firefox in safe mode.
But, the issue still exists. An update has been released today in FF. I will try with that update and check.
I have tried with the new FF as well. The issue exists. I downloaded Chrome and tried even in Chrome. The issue also exists in Chrome. Is it because i'm accessing from my office and there is proxy? But, the same proxy applies to IE and it works fine from IE.
As you are able to access the webpage and the error seems to be of the webpage this is unlikely unless perhaps the proxy also does header manipulation. You can try to verify that with the IT.

if you have https add-on, disable it..
I got the same problem. I think my firewall (Kaspersky) is the reason. When I switch "protection" on "disable" mode, then videos play without any problems.
