Clicking hyperlinks and embedded links sometimes hangs that particular tab for about 10 seconds before loading the site.

Sometimes, when I click an embedded/hyper link within Firefox, say I tried clicking a link provided after I google searched something, the tab itself would hang for 10 seconds before it would begin loading the site. When I say "hang", I mean that the entire tab becomes unresponsive to my clicks, I can't refresh the page, I couldn't change the address bar to a different link (it would allow me to manipulate the address bar, but the browser wouldn't reflect on that change, instead just going to the link I had clicked before the hang after the 10 second delay) and my mouse just stays as one sprite/disappears all together (when on the tab).
I find that this isn't a full browser issue as I can easily just start another tab and try there, but this issue is prevalent in that it randomly hangs any one tab I'm using for 10 seconds, and it's not just with Google.
I've identified that it isn't an extension issue or a different tab being used (tested in troubleshoot mode), nor an accessibility issue (as far as I know). I've disabled both my firewall and antivirus temporarily and it still occurred.
It's gotten in the way of a lot of work and I haven't been able to find anything regarding this exact problem on the support site. I've been dealing with it since my first installation of firefox (a few months ago).

Kaspersky can cause performance issues if you have "Inject script into web traffic to interact with web pages" enabled and don't have the companion browser extension installed.
Disabling some third-party antivirus or security software may not be enough to stop it from interfering, in that case you will need to temporarily uninstall it.
Go to about:third-party in the address bar and try disabling third-party modules.

Does it still happen in a new profile? An easy way to test a new profile is to install Developer Edition and see if it happens there or refresh your existing profile.
Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.
- switch to the Default System theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

This could be a problem with the places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder.
- use the "Places Database" -> "Verify Integrity" button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page
If errors are reported with "Verify Integrity", close and restart Firefox or reboot and retry.

I've installed the Developer's edition and, logged out and on a fresh install, the issue still persists.

As stated earlier, I've already tried using troubleshoot mode and the issue remained. Running an integrity check has provided no anomalous results from "Places".

Solved! At least, I think so.
Ever since I installed that extension, I haven't been facing that problem since. Surprised that disabling the antivirus temporarily didn't stop it from interfering, however.
Thank you very much, I was honestly contemplating switching to a different browser, it was driving me nuts!
