Screen layout in FB

How can I change the layout on screen using FB. Left "column" takes half screen width. Also, cursor is not visible most cases, and clicking the "Email me when someone answers the thread" box does not shove as selected!

It looks as though at least some of that is a FB experiment to which I was also recently subjected. You could try removing cookies and, if that doesn't work, try troubleshoot mode.
