Isn't the brave browser what Firefox iOS was supposed to be?

I've heard so much about Firefox can't block ads because of Apples rules etc. But how can a new browser like Brave then do it. It also looks clean and modern. Feels like everything Firefox should have been. :(( Sad. Perhaps it's time to say goodbye to Firefox.

No version of Firefox blocks ads, except incidentally through the tracking protection feature. That has always been the realm of extensions.

I think Apple should apply the same rules to everyone, so it is a little puzzling that Mozilla hasn't gotten the go-ahead for tracking protection in Firefox for iOS.

I can't say if I that is the case, perhaps Brave have just been more clever about the interpretation or getting "around" the rules.

What have you heard about Apples rules, and Firefox blocking ads? Mozilla offers an adblocker for iOS called Focus. It can be used on all iOS browsers.

Well that Firefox on iOS doesn't offer any tracking and or adblocking, because Apple doesn't allow it. So therefore they are waiting on Apple to change the rules, or explore other solutions. (I don't know what that is).

In regards to Focus, yes I have it installed but it's a Safari extension, you enabling it through Settings > Safari and it ONLY work in Safari and no third party apps like Firefox.

Okay, sorry, that was my bad.

As I understand it now, there are content blockers for iOS, but they currently only work in Safari. According to the Brave page in the app store, the iOS version contains ad-blocking, so they must be implementing it some other way.

I don't know if there are plans to try implementing it another way in Firefox. I can't find anything to indicate that.

You can visit this page to send feedback, and tell Mozilla why you switched.
